What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4765

It’s great that you went on a beer hunt, because it is a great beer. I myself picked up two cases when it hit our area (I have finished three twelve packs as of today), and I still have not had a feeling of not wanting to drink it. Cheers!

 

Well I know that the place I went in RI usually has all the beers I can't get around here. I called them yesterday and they told me they just got it in that day. Since I had the day off, I didn't mind taking a ride to get it, it's only about an hour round trip and it's a pretty relaxing drive, not a lot of traffic. Cheers!!

 

Fortunately(?) I've several hick friends who'll gladly take these off my hands when this kind of leftovers situation occurs.

Big night my sophomore Rowan went up to varsity from JV. Actually served first and played every rotation back row. More than held her own and they play in the Volleyball semi finals tonight. Less stress when we thought she was guarding the water cooler on the bench. She earned it.

 

1) Surly Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Festbier from Minnesota with flavors of lemon, orange, sweet honey and bread Munich malts. Light floral notes.
versus
2) Eagle Park M.C. Hammerschlagen (5.9%): An Oktoberfest Festbier from Wisconsin with flavors of smooth bread malts, toasted honey. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Surly vs Eagle Park Festbier Battle. Minnesota vs. Wisconsin. First is Surly. Crisp, honeyflower, floral and crisp. Outstanding Festbier and better than I remember from previous years. One of my favorites of 2025. Next is Eagle Park. Another great one. Slightly more honey and graham cracker sweetness here. Surly has slightly better drinkability and getting the win.
Winner: Surly Oktoberfest

Giving this a go ba. Apple cider donuts, scotch-style ale w/ donuts, cinnamon, & vanilla, Little House / great falls collabo out of Connecticut.

Clean and smooth base w/ a definite sweet puff pastry feel. I only grabbed one can. Who knew a pastry scotch ale would work?

Went to lunch at The Yardhouse in Greenville, SC and had my usual Chimay Blue on tap (no photo) but now back home and inspired to have another.
Bonus: found 750ml Chimay Blue bottles (2024 edition) at Costco for $10.
