Same, I'm finishing up a bottle now for the first time...in I don't know how long? I know I reviewed this maybe well over 10 or more years ago, and not particularly favorably. Which, I don't know if freshness, a spiced "winter warmer" being my expectation at the time, or just my not being particular familiarity with Sam Smith to begin with? All probably had a role to play, but I'm really enjoying this now. It probably helps I have since fallen in love with classic English styles ha.

Ha! I remember that snowstorm too! Schools in Northern Indiana were closed for 4 or 5 days and it was awesome!

I ended up posting my review over in the NBW thread. I agree, as far as beers go this is far from flashy or innovative, but the fact that it hasn’t changed all that much (if at all) in at least 30 years is part of its charm.

Looking grim. Hard to guess whether they seek to reorganize under bankruptcy laws or just rearranging the deck chairs like on the Titanic. Laying off your brewing staff is not a good sign.

Yep, and for me, my not appreciation of this might have coincided with my near 6 month work stay in Scotland (and then on and off, but not as long stays, for a few years after). Where I fell in love with anything on cask, and if I saw a bottled English/UK style not on cask..I was all harumph, this can't be (see I became an anglophile) I certainly still think cask is the best way to consume, but I'm not nearly as dogmatic about it now ha.
