What beer are you drinking now? #4777

Hey hey....the Boat / Bier Haus smells like the holidays already - with a tasty homemade vegan roast steaming on the stove as a test recipe.....if it tastes as good as it smells - we are golden!

Time to celebrate!

 

1) BlackStack Honeymoon Phase (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic and Krush for flavors of bright pink grapefruit, orange, pineapple, dank pine and stonefruit.
versus
2) BlackStack Sharper Image (8.5% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Galaxy, El Dorado, Idaho 7 & Nectaron for flavors of orange, pineapple, lime, tropical melon, and strawberry-mango. (Correctly matched the two blind)

BlackStack IPA Battle. First is Honeymoon Phase, a fresh release with wet hops. Nice combo of Mosaic and Krush. Big pink grapefruit and some stonefruit flavors. Growing on me.
Next is Sharper Image. A bit larger at 8.5%. Big, sweet pineapple and mango. Complex and robust hop flavors. I thought this was better when fresh so some age bias here. But I also prefer that drier 8% range.
Winner: BlackStack Honeymoon Phase

Riverlands Fresh Hopped Dean Street IPA (Fresh Citra). Getting navel orange flesh and peel, orange Smarties, floral, big lemon, ruby red grapefruit, some herbaceous dank, pine resin. Might be my first fresh hopped hazy beer. I like their fresh hopped west coast more, but this is still very good.

 

One more Celebration before I take my Mom out to dinner tonight. After reading all the posts, it's clear. We're going out for pizza. Pepperoni with extra cheese. Can't wait!

 

Might be my closer, unlikely but it could be. If so Gnight.
