Good afternoon BAdvocates. I’m drinking my first Lead Dog Brewing Oktoberfest on this chilly first day of December. I am very glad to have bought this beer as it’s looking, smelling and tasting great.

It was back to the grindstone today after a glorious four-day weekend. Time to relax with a Stone IPA and some tasty jams from Ozzy's Boneyard. Hoping to hear Killers by Iron Maiden. Cheers

 

1) Drekker Metaphase (8.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra & Nelson Sauvin for flavors of lemon and orange citrus, green citrus, grape, guava, and juicy pine.

2) Drekker King of The Thing (8.3% no canning date): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra hops for flavors of orange citrus, tropical citrus, some sweet peach. Juicy, soft, and smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Drekker IPA Battle. Metaphase and King Of The Thing. A rare occurrence when these two IPAs align. Last time was Spring 2024. First is Metaphase, Citra and Nelson. Amazing citrus with a nice grape and berry notes. Next is King Of The Thing. All Citra here. Slightly sweeter and more smooth peach notes. I think the oat malt body adds some smooth and sweetness. Citra and Nelson combo gets the win here.

I bought some nucleated shaker pint glasses a few moons ago to try to meet carbonation in the middle (for lack of a better way to put it) for beers that I think need a lift in mouthfeel. It works some of the time and has failed a few times but not enuf to ruin the beer. Random usage. Better for trad Lagers, Pils, WCIPAs. Not good for NEIPAs but they've worked on a few lighter Hazies. re: Sullivan's Stout...I'm happy with the big 3 from the emerald isle and would like to see more crafty Ales.
