My Boones Farm consumption was back in the late 60s to early 70’s.

Good afternoon BAdvocates. I’m drinking a Velvet Glow Helles brewed by Russian River. Definitely a light and easy drinker. Looking forward to the Monday Night game of the season, maybe even Aaron’s final game.

    Cheers all! :beers:

    Belhaven 90 Wee Heavy (7.2%):
A Scottish Wee Heavy with flavors of caramel, sweet cherries, and dark fruit.

Dark fruit, cherries, sweet earthy undertones. I am exploring some of these Scottish ales which are new to me, but so far not very impressed.

Senior year in high school. I was 17 but had phony proof (N.Y. was an 18 yo state). Remember one winter Friday night, went into the liquor store, bought like 13 bottles (pints) of something called Sneaky Pete I think, some kind of wino wine, for me and the gang.
Tasted like gravel going down. But then, whence the bottle was finished, it was like a little acid trip.
    Those were the days.

... @TCgenny has confided in me (and, sorry for breaking the trust and confidence, Tom) that he also has a secret stash of crates of Boones Farm Apple Wine in a secret, subterranean safe room where he keeps his 257+ unique recording copies of 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' everything from the rumored early 50's bedroom reel-to-reel copies Bob made in his MN teenage bedroom to (the vast majority) being outtakes from the 'Bringing It All Back Home' sessions to rarities with the Band, Led Zeppelin, Roy Harper, Liberace, Bill Monroe, and (much to @GreenBayBA's delight) another obscure outtake from Hieronymus Bosch's 'Artificial Emotions' self-produced CD in 2005...his fascination with cheesy old wines and this Zimmerman guy is, to me, unfathomable...

Amazing how some of survived to be old geezers.

I grew up in NJ about 40 minutes from NY. Drinking age in NJ at that time was 21. NY was 18. Yep, you guessed right. Weekends we drove to a place in NY called Greenwood Lakes. Lots of bars and lots of bands. Usually there were four of us. The least wasted had to do the drive back.

It's a widely recounted and generally accepted story, confirmed by wrestling legend Gerald Brisco, that Andre the Giant would drink six bottles of Mateus wine with ice before a match, alongside other legendary feats of drinking, often to cope with his chronic pain.

I’m nearly finished with the Northwest Beer Tour and now I have this problem IPA on my hands. We’ve discussed the recent demise of Rogue Ales this month and pontificated over some of the issues plaguing beer companies generally of late.

Here we have another of the Rogue Ales, this time their “Gumberoo” West Coast IPA. Gumberoo is a 6.8% ABV brew with a 66 IBU on the old bitterness scale.

Pouring this I just keep finding that many of these Northwest IPAs have issues on the carbonation (or over-carbonation), the residual yeast in suspension, cloudiness or oxidation. I guess when you get down to it, a lot of these are small batch, and I suspect that there is no filtering, or they are ”can conditioned” with yeast and a carbonating charge of some type. The upshot is a lot of inconsistencies on what should be a CRYSTAL CLEAR beer if it’s going to be called a West Coast IPA. This one isn’t even close, and the color and flavor seems a bit off – looking at the bottom of the can, again we find the issue. Canning date on this one is 9/18/23. Let’s count’em…..1 – 2 - 3 … 28 months ago! West Coast IPAs are to be drank fresh! Old IPAs, are very prone to flavor or aroma issues, and here we have some IPA still being sold to unsuspecting folks over 2 years old! Shameful!

You know how the ever-thrifty Beermeister32 views tossing beer…. Natural resistance! Nevertheless, I don’t think I’ve ever had so many issues. Oregon, you used to be the best, you are in need of a tune-up – Big-Time! DUMPER!
