Once I start down the Nina Simone path, I can't stop Live at The Village Gate spinning.

The last of my Lost Forty Ice Day IPA in the glass (I still have a few LF Rock Hound IPA's left from my trip up north though )

 

NBW continues. This beer came into work today. Damn delicious.

New Beer Weekend #287

 

1) Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald (6.0%): A Porter from Ohio with flavors of dark chocolate, dark grains, and dark roast. Balanced.
versus
2) Founders Porter (6.5%): A Porter from Michigan with flavors of smooth chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, and espresso roast. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

The age-old Porter Battle. First is Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald when the gales of November came early. Or January. Cocoa, roast, balanced. Excellent. Next is Founders. Similar, slightly more smooth and less roast. Used to do this battle many times. Picked Founders most often, but now I like the balance and roast in the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Winner: Edmund Fitzgerald

MLK Day: To focus on Dr. King's dream of fairness, kindness, and treating everyone equally, regardless of skin color, his peaceful protests, and encourage Americans to be like him by doing good deeds, showing kindness, and working for a better, more just world.

OH is $15 at Whole Foods, good price, although I had to go to 2 shoe stores and another supermarket for a beer run.

I'm not old enough to experience MLK, JFK and Bobby personally. But I have always devoured everything I could about them, and can't comprehend what it was like then. My Dad worked for our local news paper, The News Gazette and would always take me to events he covered when I was a kid. One of them was when his son Martin Luther King III, recited the I Have A Dream speech at the University of Illinois campus. I'll never forget that.

Familiar distance, imperial stout w/ coconut & amburana wood, Threes / everywhere beer collabo.
Nice chocolate malt upfront and good body but man this drinks so cinnamon forward it’s not funny. Slight vanilla but the cinnamon, a flavor I personally enjoy, really dominates and drowns it a bit. I may grab another can just to see if a different day hits differently,

not dated but it just hit so reasonably fresh expectations,

 

Still enjoying Celebration as long as I can. I hope the game tonight is a close one like many of the NFL games. Cheers!
