Here’s another in the Torpedo-series of IPAs by Sierra Nevada, Electric Torpedo West Coast IPA. Compared to yesterday’s crystal clear batch, this one is a bit cloudy despite the WCIPA on the label.

That’s the nature of a lot of these IPAs, varying clarity. As West Coast IPAs, these should be clear, but many are limited-run batches and differences do crop up in the brewing, conditioning, dry-hopping, fining (or lack of fining) and a myriad of other small factors that can result in some cloudiness. This one features “a blend of hops” – whatever that is!

Funny, some of the IPA brewers (not Sierra Nevada) are beginning to do just that – a big batch of varied different hops for IPAs. Some of these hops are seasonally available or in short supply; others are proprietary and/or available from only one supplier. All this results in batching up IPAs using a big mixed blend, that way you aren’t locked into brewing with some specific hop that becomes scarce, short supply or expensive right when you need them.

At 7.5% ABV, this Sierra Nevada is not as chuggable as yesterday’s Phantom Torpedo IPA, a 6% brew featuring Vic Secret, Magnum and Azacca hops. Both good, but given the Beermeister32 pick of the two, I’d run with yesterday’s Phantom Torpedo…. Cheers!

And the closest I've ever come to a murmuration last week on the way home from work, whatta an awesome sight and the picture does it no justice. The sky was thick and filled with birds, so thick, the trees looked like they had leaves on them! (Starlings?)

Have a good Tuesday. I slept in most of the day after reviewing 2 beers last night. Got up around 330PM. Read 40% of Total Recall by Arnold Schwarzenegger which is his memoir up to 2012. I already read Be Useful from 2023 which is more of an inspirational short read. The memoir is 656 pages, 23 hours. I am around the part when Conan is coming out and he met his ex wife Maria. Never knew he was really close with the Kennedy's. Kind of makes me want to get into powerlifting again. 4.5/5. Also narrated by Stephen Lang, aka the Colonel from Avatar. Great villain character. I went to the Arnold Classic to see an acquaintance compete in 2011.


12/17/2025 New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Juice Force once again. I will get a 12 pack of another IPA at walmart again.
