What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4885

1) Other Half Citra + Galaxy (8.5% 12/21/25): A NEIPA from NY with Citra and Galaxy for flavors of passionfruit, peach, ripe melon, fruit punch.
versus
2) Mortalis Persephone (8.0% canned 12/28/25): A NEIPA from NY with Citra and Krush for flavors of peach, citrus, guava, pine, grapefruit. (Mismatched the two blind)

Heavyweight NY IPA Battle: Other Half versus Mortalis. Galaxy versus Krush. My first try at both of these. First is Other Half Citra and Galaxy, pretty straightforward. Lots of OJ here with some tropical peach and fruit punch flavors. A bit hot and sweet, but decent. Just not on par for Other Half's standard.
Next is Mortalis. This time Citra and Krush. Some guava and green pine notes. Zesty and finish is dry and clean. Outstanding IPA. I've always liked the Krush hop profile more than Galaxy too, but I think this is a Mortalis victory over Other Half today BeerAdvocates.
Winner: Mortalis Persephone

I’m having an unexpectedly slow work day, so late this morning I started making one of my wife’s favorite new, simple “from scratch”dishes that I’ve been fine-tuning lately—chicken-vegetable soup. Basically a whole bunch of onion, carrot, celery, and garlic (seasoned with various herbs etc.), then what’s left of a whole chicken I roasted this weekend, then add vegetable and chicken stock (what’s shown above is the “base” before I added the liquid; noodles are optional but I’ll boil some later). Let simmer all afternoon, stirring occasionally, and enjoy a beverage. For that I’ve chosen a big bottle of Black Tuesday 2021, which should last me at least the rest of the day and evening. My sympathies lol - but as you know, it's a big deal with the locked down browser and all the other rules imposed. Usually I do Zoom support remotely for the remote exams. They didn't have enough staff to cover the onsite one today so I ended up having to do it. Hopefully I don't need to cover another onsite exam anytime soon

Good afternoon BAdvocates. I’m drinking the final pFriem IPA from my sixer. This beer is as bitter as the day I bought it. Holding up beautifully. Just a few more mercy kills left in my fridge, almost time to go back to the store!

Saint Arnold Eclipse IPA, I always forget how much I enjoy this one. I'm not a "juicy" IPA guy, but this one is really well made, and that shouldn't be a surprise from Saint Arnold ha.

I hope so! My wife and I are expecting our first grandchild in early-April. Somehow we didn’t mess up our three kids too much and now look forward to over-spoiling little ones and sending them back home.
