    1) Hop Butcher Coral Fly (7.5% canned 2/16/26): A NEIPA from Chicago with Waimea and Peacharine for flavors of ripe peaches, orange creamsicle, and tropical berries.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Blue Moss (7.5% canned 2/7/26): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Simcoe, and Nectaron for flavors of orange, pineapple, grapefruit, tropical melon, berries. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Happy Saturday BeerAdvocates and a Hop Butcher IPA Battle. First is Coral Fly. Some Peacharine plus Waimea, which is a hop often used in Hop Butcher IPAs. Some pineapple and peach flavors. A nice piney bite to clean the palate. Excellent.
Next is Blue Moss. Interestingly named Blue and described as having blue cotton candy flavors without have the Mosaic hop. I'm getting more orange and resinous tangerine than anything. I think this one could have used Mosaic to enhance the blueberry flavor. Still excellent. A bit hot on the mouthfeel. Neither of these were my favorite Hop Butcher IPAs, or perhaps my palate is evolving. Giving Blue Moss the win as I do somehow appreciate some blue cotton candy notes.
    Winner: Hop Butcher Blue Moss

It's nice to see another perspective, as well as someone else drinking it. I definitely get a juicy fruit, maybe even fruit stripe bubblegum aspect up front, but there's definitely enough bitterness on the back end. Cheers!

Probably... my poor word ordering there, Big L, but I was sitting on someone else's dissertation (PhD) committee. I've had mine since 1999. I've been teaching since.
He's an anthropologist and has a bright future!
Cheers, man. I'll try to make April 3rd. E

Knock It Back hazy at Three Bull in Snohomish. Not very hazy … it’s okay.

Also: it’s important to bring two books when you leave the house, just in case you finish one and need a backup!

Spot on sir! Fruity 4 sure but does have the subtle “house” bitterness in finish

This one is better than the BA score would suggest. My rating was 17% over the standard deviation, so I obviously enjoyed more than most here. When I opened the green bottle, I did detect a faint skunk aroma. The flavor seems sweeter than when I last drank it, which was before the lager was brewed in the U.S. It also lacks that Euro-hop flavor, and the aftertaste is slightly harsh. If I rated the beer today, my score would be much lower.

It’s like a book report on everything but the beer. This site is all about the beer.

I like the crunchy shells better but my teeth don’t. So it is usually the soft shells.
