6th Lord. An IPA brewed by Basic City. All Virginia brewed IPAs so far tonight.

 

I got 2 beef and bean Tina's burritos from Walmart for $1 each from the fridge. A bit too much tortilla, but plenty of beef and bean. One was a chimichanga which was spicy beef and bean.



Fat Heads Imperial Head Hunter. No can dating. Great fluffy head retention and dense soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Large sized pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hop mouthfeel. Lingering resinous hop oil dryness, minimal hop astringency. Light lingering warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Touch of booze. Can is over 6 months old, getting a touch of hop oxidation and melanoidin character from the malt; but still delicious. Tastes like a classic west coast style with Simcoe, Centennial, Mosaic, Citra, and Chinook hops. Plenty of resins on C hops with a bit of a crispness on the finish. Not overly sweet/heavy. 4.25/5

I bought six. Five on the shelf. They probably won’t sell out for a few days as they had a good amount of cases at Buffalo. This area is falling off from big craft beer drinkers. Fucking seltzers are creeping in. That’s even worse than the area being historically Labatt’s Country, IMO.

P.S. @Blogjackets I had Mortalis’ Petasos quad IPA at the release. They are KILLING IT with their quads. Delicious, in a really heavy but clean vein of complex flavors. You would need one of those, too. For science. 12% ABV.

I was already craving this beer but then @ATL6245 started that vintage label thread so I put in an order with pops who frequently crosses the Delaware river…it’s just so good.
