Go to Sante Adairius every week for the whole year. Seriously, will do some firsts in the next couple months. Going to DLD. Will also check out StL and Chicago for the first time. in June going to Vermont. Will likely go to Hill. Possibly other regional spots.
I actually stopped by their location on the metro when I was being a nerd and checking out the longest escalator in the western hemisphere one stop up from there.
I've had to climb that fucker when it broke down in the summer. I think most of the top 10 are on the red line.
Some of my goals: 1. Visit Belgium and some of the classic monastery/breweries there 2. Drink some of the top BA Stouts on the BA top 250 list 3. Take a California beer trip driving from San Diego (Stone, The Nruery) to Petaluma (Lagunitas) up to Russian River, hoping they have Pliny the Younger available. 4. Visit some of the breweries that produce the top beers on the 250 list - Toppling Giant, Cigar City, Side Project, Prarie Artisans…
5. Visit Michigan, Ondiana to stop by Bells, Founders, 3 Floyds I’ve hit most of the top breweries in New England’s
Top of the list for me is attending a Zwanze Day event. I live within public transit distance of Monk's but the schedule just never seems to work out. Also, having enjoyed kolsch in Cologne, I now want to experience altbier in Dusseldorf.
I'm working on that, I'm down to 5 states. My bigger goal is to have a beer at a brewery in every state, and I'm at 26/50. Airport taprooms excluded.
1. Franconia. I’ve done Upper Bavaria, but Franconia is really the dream. 2. Prague. Czechia, generally. 3. Alpirsbacher Hopfenfest. Possibly on the list for this summer. I love the Black Forest and Alpirsbacher Kloster is my favorite Black Forest brewery. 4. Philly breweries and baseball. I’m doing this the week of July 4th. Going to the whole 4-game series with the Pirates and filling the days with Human Robot, Sacred Vice, Love City, etc. 5. Low hanging fruit, but finally going to Birdsmouth Beer here in NJ!
I think I really only have three reasonable beer goals. In no particular order... 1. Road trip to Vermont 2. Belgium 3. Visit Russian River
What a fun thread! Got my imagination going. Hopefully realistic in the next 5-10 years... 1) Northeast (Vermont/Maine) breweries 2) Oregon/Washington breweries + Yakima 3) New Glarus / Toppling Goliath / Surly, with more in between 4) Santa Clara to San Diego (ideally with PtY in the mix) 5) Treehouse/Trillium/etc. Might be able to pull off one of these every 3-5 years... - Belgium - Prague - Germany (can these be combined into a 7-10 day trip???) - Alaska Can I get my wife to sign off on this and convince people to join... - China or another country that is less known for beer, but would be fun exploring through beer If anyone wants to discuss Ohio/Michigan trips feel free to reach out!
Don't be afraid to cross the Delaware one day and hit Tonewood Oaklyn for some cask, or lager...if I can swing it beer is on me.
Current Beer Goal: My wife and I have been to 236 different Breweries, our goal is to make it to 250 this year during USA's 250th Birthday. Only 14 more to go. Would be great if we could visit #250 on the fourth of July. We will see.
Man, you're hauling ass if you have 236 already this year! How many states are involved? Good luck for getting the 250th on the 4th.
I'm just hoping to make it back to either (or both) Bavaria and Belgium in the next couple years. With the world of beer being in economic flux right now, you never really know if/when some of those classic places could end up closing.
