If so, would be a shame. It was the first Cantillon beer to make a long lasting impression on me. Had it at Zwanze day in New Orleans back in 2013. Tasted exactly like candied crab apple. Divine
And just like that, I reversed the retirement of the beer. I think it is the default after a certain period of time without reviews. I have not heard anything about it being retired - they just don't release the Lou Pepe beers very often. I think they just released the LPK for the first time in a while. I have no idea when it will be released again, but I highly doubt it's retired.
I've heard talk that it's been replaced by Magic Lambic, which has LPF in it and has been released fairly regularly. While Magic Lambic can sometimes be a little heavy on vanilla, I generally think it improves on the LPF.
I’ve never been lucky enough to get this beer, so I searched Lou Pepe Framboise and saw this at Lambic.info: In 2025, after rumors that the beer was discontinued due to the increased fruit in Rosé de Gambrinus, making these beers too similar, Jean Van Roy confirmed that he does not plan to release a new Lou Pepe Framboise in the future. He stated that this beer was not aging particularly well, becoming too acetic with time. However, he conceded, "never say never". Additionally, Lou Pepe Framboise shares too many similarities with another regularly released beer, but according to him it is Magic Lambic, and not Rosé de Gambrinus, which indeed became more aromatic with time, but only due to a change in the raspberry aromatic that evolved over the year (probably with global warming) rather than an increase in quantities added to the beer, which didn't happen. https://www.lambic.info/index.php?t..._-_Framboise&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop Sorry to be a bummer if it’s true.I’d really like to try one of these red wine barrel lambics.
Now Im even happier I got to try a 2012 vintage of LPF on the last Zwanze Day. It was an incredible bottle someone bought to Franconia and the first (and probably only) time I will be able to try it. It was perfectly aged and balanced and I would rate it higher than any (fresh) RDG I’ve had
While I've opened some 2010 LPFs in the last couple years that were on the sour side, a friend opened a 2007 LPF a couple weeks ago and it was stellar. Still had tons of fruit on the nose and taste, and it wasn't too acidic.
