Could you at least sit outside and drink?

I don't remember to be honest. I know we sat inside though.

Rhode Island has many places like that. The Apartment and The English Cellar Ale House come to mind (both owned by the same group nonetheless).

Theres a place that opened up on the block that I work at, they advertise it having over 30 taps, and then when I actually checked the tap list, it basically was every macro brew you can think of and about one or two local NY beers.

Isn't that the place attached to the Hooters?

That would at least make it a decent beer bar.

Heavy Seas Loose Cannon...that's enough for a visit if the atmosphere is cool. Life could be much worse. And it sounds as if it's no more than a 5 minute walk for you.

You're right. My bad. Although I guess that means my disappointment should be greater, since that means even more beers are missing.

Just down the street from me is a place called American Taproom. It has 6 total taps. They have decent stuff, but you would think a few more taps might be appropriate given the name.

I know of where you speak. They also have a location in DE that is horrible. The only one I have found to be somewhat close to the expectations that it creates is the one in PA.

Here is a very nice Belgium restaurant with great food in NYC. The prices are high but thats okay for the type of place.
Whats kills me is the seventh listed draft on this list. The menu is updated all the time, and7 remains everytime. The rest of the list is accurate.
WTF, is it a mean joke?

Honestly, this kind of thing happens all the time in other areas. In the Boston area every new bar and restaurant is trying to ride the craft beer craze, and advertise themselves as some sort of beer mecca. Yet, 90% of them have tap lists looking something extremely similar to what you posted.

Bottom line, is craft beer is still a tiny fraction of the market, and even with the craft beer segment, those who want imperial stouts and sours are an even tinier fraction. Most craft bars are going to move more Fat Tire or DFH 60 minute than they will imperial stouts or other "extreme" beers.

A few years ago when a bar by me began advertising as a craft beer bar with 15-20 taps as well as being a sports bar. I immediately was excited, but when they opened was let down when I saw the BMC and 'crafty' beers taking up most of the taps. In their defense, their business revolves around sports and virtual golf simulators, and they actually do have a few solid taps and bottles (two hearted, DFH 60). I give them my business when I watch games, because really, I don't know of any full blown craft beer bars that really play sports around here, and I'd much be there than Buffalo Wild Wings (better food options as well).
Here's the latest draft list I found:

    Miller Lite
    Guinness
    Stella Artois
    Blue Moon
    Magic Hat #9
    Kona Firerock Pale Ale
    Blue Point Toasted Lager
    Seadog Blueberry Wheat
    Bells Two Hearted IPA
    Angry Orchard Cider
    Sam Adams Winter Lager
    Labatt's Blue

So... Two Hearted saves this one. Bottle list offers a few more decent picks from Rogue, Ommegang, DFH, etc.

In contrast, here's the list at my go to spot(feel free to guess, not many where I live haha):

I have no problem with them carrying what they do to appeal to the masses (they have to make money and you likely won't do that if you only appeal to beer geeks) but when you are named such to appeal to beer lovers, you need to go the extra mile, which I do not feel this place is doing.

I am not giving up on the place, a few people from the craft beer scene have gone in and talked to them already, I still have hope for them. They have a niche (adult skee ball/tournaments) so I am sure I could go and have a good time, I just want them to live up to the name.

Its a bar with beer, and a silly name. With that name and knowing there are NOT a million beers, I would have avoided it.
