What is laying them down for a year going to accomplish?

I just noticed it was bottled on October 5, 2012. Fresh? Not so much.

Checking out FFF Pride & Joy for the 1st time; awesome. On deck is Deschutes Inversion IPA, or maybe Robert the Bruce.

It's 66% Expedition Stout. Apparently 1995 Expedition is drinking great- that and Third Coast Old Ale are two off Bell's legendary age-rs

Never have had aged Black Note but after getting lucky enough to find it on tap fresh a couple of places, I'm definitely laying down the 5 bottles I could scrounge up! The thought of that stuff with some time on it is just dreamy.

I get what you're saying, but when you lay down a beer to cellar, you're trying to accomplish some favorable change in the beer. I don't see what you'd gain out of laying down a Black Note.
