I've never been a huge fan of porters. Just not really my thing I guess, but when I tried Ballast Point's Victory At Sea......Awesome....
Still the only porter I like so far though.

The first beer that ever blew my mind was Supplication. It totally changed my perception about the possibilities of what beer can be. And it was delicious too.

Most of the posts here seem to be top shelf brews, almost in a way " bragging" that they had them. A brief look at some of the posts and I noticed one guy listed a ton of beers including CBS. Well ok but you look at his ratings and he rates it 4.74. Thats not mind blowing lol!

Well I am done with my rant, Pliny The Elder was mind blowing for me simply because it lived up to it's hype. Additionally Heady Topper was right there also.

It's not actually my favorite DIPA, but I will never forget the first time I tried a Heady Topper. My sister in law brought a few on vacation with us 2 years ago. At the first sip, I thought, "Holy smokes, how do you get that much hop flavor and aroma to stick around through the brewing/canning process." Whether you like it or not, it's an impressive feat.

Kuhnhenn DRIPA. I was floored by how good this beer was. And each time I have it, I swear it gets better and better. I wish it were available to more people, it's highly underappreciated!

Some other lesser mentioned beers that really surprised me with how good they were:

    Founders Imperial Stout
    Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
St. Bernardus Prior 8 (very underrated IMO, sitting in that shadow of the Abt 12)
    Ten FIDY
