It's the time of year again. Short's is in town for Extreme Beer Fest and they're spreading the love with some extra beers for everyone else. Get them while you can ...

Not necessarily. Last time it dropped (2 years ago?) there was plenty to be had for quite some time. Not sure how this shipment will compare in size, but certainly worth keeping an eye out.

I've seen some Short's beer as recently as a month or so ago.

That was probably the already expired stuff that Maryland or wherever distributor dumped here lol

This. 3 years ago we got "relatively fresh" stuff. Last year we got a bunch of old shit.

I was told only 10 stores in the state are getting short's. I wonder which ones they may be.....

Hey folks, I'm a sales rep from Short's and I would like to officially address this freshness issue with the forum--

First off, we never sent out expired beer, ever.

    (had to bold that one)

What we did do in the past is send out way too much, not specifying how we wished to have it distributed throughout the greater Boston area. It was our fault and I can assure you we learned a lot from it.

This year is quite different--we are only sending out 4 pallets (240 cases). They are hopefully going to accounts that are passionate about craft beer and can manage their allocations effectively. We are thrilled that people are excited about this limited drop in a market outside of Michigan and want those who purchase Short's to be consuming only the freshest product from our brewery.

Our code dates are now located on the neck of the bottle in black ink. Sometimes you have to hold it up to the light, but it's there. If the bottle does not have a code date, it may be from long ago and will not taste well.

Also, if you do see old beer, tell someone about it. Unfortunately it's almost inevitable at one point or another, but having expired beer on the shelf diminishes the integrity of the brewery, the distributor, and the account.

If anyone has any more concerns or questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.

Lol. Last time the "Limited Supply" hit my area it sat on shelves for quite some time. Which is fine by me, I had plenty.

It's a smaller shipment just a few pallets to about 10-15 accounts across the state. And a few bars got some bottles as well. Meadhall and Lord Hobo will have some kegs.

Can you say anything more about
    ?

I heard a different story that a distributor somewhere else had a fair amount of expired product that they couldn't move and it got unsuspectingly dumped here. There was a decent amount of time between each drop.

    I believe there was

I believe there was an incident with some beer never getting released from an event we did in Washington DC. They decided to ship it up to their sister company in Boston as they felt they could move it quicker, we have since tightened up our procedures and have reiterated that beer only be sold fresh or we will take it back. Sorry if anyone was affected. Since we do not distribute outside of Michigan except for such special events we have had to learn a few lessons the hard way.

I see. Thanks for the extra info. I knew it was anyone's fault at Short's but rather the distributors.

Soft Parade on tap is a good thing, no doubt about it.
