I'll be in Deerfield next week, staying at a hotel off Lake Cook Rd. Won't have access to a car, so will have to taxi/hotel shuttle (pref. <5mi). Any suggestions on decent craft bars or brewpubs in the area (DC Sarnies, Ram Brewery?)? Also, would like to bring some decent regionals (FFF) back home. So if there are any bottleshops/grocery stores that might have a good selection, that would be sweet. Preciate any advice.

You'll be a short ride from Binny's Highland Park (I'm the beer buyer). Three Floyds has been (more than usually) thin lately, but there might be some Behemoth left. As far as their sixers go, it's tough to say, as they're very limited and picked over fast - Jinx Proof and Pride & Joy tend to stick around longest.

For other quality locals, there's Pipeworks, Spiteful, Half Acre, Metropolitan, and Revolution. Stop in and let me know what you're looking for and I can offer more specific suggestions.

Not as sure where to point you for bars - I live, and drink, in the city - but if you see Tighthead's Irie IPA on tap, definitely give it a try.

No good bars around there. Giordano's is there though. good stuff. Although Lou Malnati's in NBK will deliver to your room.

Here's an older Deerfield thread. MIght try taking the metra up to Lake Bluff Brewing, and Tighthead is definitely worth checking out if you can get there. For shops, Binnys Highland Park and DiCarlo's in Mundelein, but again you might need a car to get there.

You may need a car for this as well but The Yardhouse at the Glenn usually has a good tap selection.

The Yardhouse in Glenview has a pretty solid tap list, including FFF Gumballhead & good food. Another option, which is a bit further is the relatively new Beer Market in Lincolnshire (~10 miles), but if you have the time you should do yourself a favor & catch a train into the city.

Be sure to get some Pipeworks, those guys are killing it! Besides Binny's you might also want to stop @ Whole Foods to see what they have available. I've suprisingly come across quite a bit of FFF there.

Binnys Highland Park is your best bottle shop option, FFF is not always available but Pipeworks' Galaxy Unicorn is a great alternative is you're looking for delicious hoppy beers. Check out the full lineup from Pipeworks, Half Acre, and Revolution

Depending on where on Lake Cook you are, you might not be too far from Buffalo Grove Binny's, as well.

DC Sarnies has some decent taps and okay food, might be worth checking out. There's a Liquor Barn on Milwaukee Ave and Dundee that has a good selection (I scored my only bottle of Cherry Rye there for $19.99) but may be a bit out of range depending on where you're staying.

The Firkin is off the MD-N Metra line, which you can get on at Deerfield. Best bar in the northern burbs, imho.

Glenview House also looks promising, and right off the Metra from Deerfield/Lake-Cook. Meier's Tavern in Glenview is a cool time-warp. Yard House kind of blows, but if it's the best you can do, then by all means.

Yardhouse in Glenview will have your best selection as far as Tap selection, something like 100 or more and usually decent choices, Food is well above avg for a bar.

Forgot that Firkin is close to the Metra stop, yeah that is by far the best bar option. The Deerfield station is right off Lake Cook and it's like a 5 minute ride to Libertyville.

Look up Firkin, Mickey Finn's, Beer Market, Yard House, and Whirlyball for solid taps. Firkin is the best.
