Just because they are petitioning to have the laws in regards to shipping beer changed doesn't mean they intend to begin doing so on Day 1 if they were. I'm sure continued expansion is on their minds, so why not have a freer path once doing so does eventually become feasible?

Yeah, it's easy to use the locals deserve loyalty argument. If HF was local to me I'd only drink local. Instead I choose to drive 8 hours each way lol.

Now, if it were two bottles... And nothing smaller than 22oz's then we'd be talking.

This. It shows the big difference between HF and The Alchemist. It does seems strange to me, that HF would rather ship beer out then send beer to Hunger Mountain or Winooski.

HF does send bottles to Hunger mountain. I've bought them there before. I would think possibly more people travel to HF for the beer that are out of state than locals. You can travel an hour north from those areas and have more options at the brewery. The society is to reserve bottles, no special releases you can't get at the brewery. Limits are usually 1 or 2 now anyways.

Only downside I see for this, is taking away from VT's tourist income. Less trips is good for the long trekking visitors, but not for local economy.

HF did send bottles to Hunger mountain. It has been a long time. At least it has been a long time since I've seen bottles there - and I shop there every week.

Nah ... folks are misreading the intent here. The intent of the brewery is not to start shipping all of the beer to out of state customers. We assure you. Misconstrued.

When I first read this I thought it said "Nah ... folks are misreading the internet..."

Heh. Guess I'm guilty of that, at least.

Good to hear. Although I do see the value of changing the laws to allow shipping. Especially if I could get bottle releases without driving the 20ish mins up to Greensboro.(#firstworldproblems)

150 members isn't much to put a massive dent in that. And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the memberships sold online go to people that dont even live on this side of the country.

    Shaun,

Please don't become discourage between this thread and the whole 3rd Anniversary Connoisseur Ticket rush. People who feel entitled to your products/events for whatever reason should not dictate/influence your vision. It is certainly not your fault you are producing incredible beers that are in high demand. Part of what makes what you're doing so special is that you are so focused on place an ancestry and don't feel that because you can't meet all the demand over all segments of beer geekdom that you need to stop doing things the way you are (or how you envision things in the future).

    Cheers!
