You run a beer store and you are trying to move your other product, so I empathize with you in that regard. However, to say you have a beer that can replace the ZD craving, like two hearted, is asenine and transparent. ZD is arguably the best hoppy beer the Midwest has produced ever. Until another regularly available citra ipa or apa rears it's head in distro (sucks sucks), you will continue to pine of your ZD woes.

Agreed, I just started giving people beer that they won't go get themselves that I know they won't be able to get soon, even at the expense that I won't be able to get it for a while either (sucks, FIS). Spread the Love, it comes around. And no, I've never had zombie dust :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn't say I could recommend a beer that would replace a ZD "craving", as I don't know of any other single-hopped Citra Pales or IPAs distributed in our area, and even if there were, Floyds' house ale yeast strain is arguably even more responsible for the flavor than the hop bill. Rather, I was lamenting the behavior of much of the craft beer community with regard to ZD. I've seen grown men throw tantrums over not being allowed as much as they want, as well as others who go from store to store purchasing as much as possible each week, leaving little or none for those who have never tried it and would be content with a 6pk every month or two. One could certainly say this behavior isn't limited to Zombie Dust, but in my experience, it's even worse than with other rare beers (bourbon-aged limited releases, etc) because it is produced year-round, and people seem to exhibit feelings of entitlement to Zombie Dust that I don't see as much with other beers (be it because they love zombies, are bigger fans of Three Floyds, haven't had any in two weeks, etc.) My opinion of the beer itself is inconsequential, but it's undeniable and widely observed that douches and hoarders exist everywhere, including the beer community, and I've witnessed a disproportionate amount of hoarding, blind-allegiance, and tantrum throwing when it comes to Zombie Dust in particular.

I truly can't complain though. While I have to field questions about the stuff all day, there's always plenty of Mirror Pond, Alpha King, Racer 5, and other out-of-this world beers around for me to stock up in that might not be there if Zombie Dust wasn't distracting so much of the community. Cheers!

Zombie Dust wouldn't be the success it is were it named "Fairy Dust".

The marketing and art make this decent beer extraordinary. I'll text you a video of me drain-pouring it if you don't agree with everything I say.

I'm not that fond of the packaging, and I hate zombie garbage as a whole because it's been so overdone in movies/TV shows, games, etc.

I had never had ZD then I got one from a first time trader. Dam good, now I know what all the hype is about.

I can honestly say I have not had a bad beer from FFF and I have had a few
    Dreadnaught
    Apocalypse cow
    ZD
    Mokolo
    Arctic panzer wolf (was decent)
    Red Wytch
    Alpha King

And after Huna day I aim to get myself a DL.

Would you point us in the direction of a better pale ale that we can find in Chicago?

It's not a matter of better, so much as it is that Zombie Dust is just, "meh". I would argue that Alpha King is far better. But, you know, beer reviews are totally objective.

I'd say AK and ZD are pretty much on par, the only difference is the hops used and like, .2% abv. But thanks for pointing us to an equally hard to find beer from the same brewery no less.

    Hey, you asked!

I don't know where you're from, but in the midwest, AK flows from our faucets!

ZD is on tap in at least 2-3 different bars in Chi at any given time. I mention this because I won't travel specifically to a bar because they have AK on tap. ZD? Different story. It is the quintessential all citra APA/IPA.

Can anyone compare the ZD to Lagunitas Sucks? Ive not had ZD yet- trying to setup trade now. The LS is the most citra heavy beer Ive had - its really too much citra for my taste, but my Pliny loving girlfriend is nuts about it.

I occasionally do blind taste tests with my faves to find a new #1 (I highly recommend it, have someone else pour and wear blindfold). So far I like then Green Flash West Coast IPA as my #1 (thank god its everywhere!), then maybe Firestone UJ and Blind Pig. Although the Pig is milder hops than I really want, I call it Bland Pig but still love it.

Is it me or does ZD taste more like an IPA than an APA? An APA is ususally more balanced I thought. This damn thing is fully of hoppiness goodness.
