I live in Michigan but travel to Illinois once a month. The more I hear about Revolution, the more I want to try some of their beers. However,it seems like every time I try to stop somewhere to get some they dont have it. Can anyone help with any places that carry a good selection. Mostly travel 80/90. Are there any major liquor stores/ beer stores that you could name off. Any help is appreciated.

Binny's has all Revolution releases for distribution including their barrel-aged releases currently. Check out the one in Lincoln Park and say hello to Vav.

Your best bet is to head to the brewery itself -- best selection, best prices. It's right off 90/94, about 6 miles NW of the Loop. Unfortunately, they're only open Wed-Sat, 2pm-10pm, but there is the side benefit of ordering a couple of tasters, too, before you buy.

Otherwise, damn near every Binnys in the city should carry Revolution. Definitely their line-up of sixers (possibly as part of the Make Your Own 6-Pack selection, too) and at least a few of their bombers.

Binny's are your best bet (although the 2 by me never put Revolution in their mix sixers, damn them). I think their website can break it down by store availability. This will give you an idea of which store to at least try. Also, the Jewel grocery stores in my area carry some Revolution, mainly the Mad Cow bomber and Anti-Hero cans.

Just ask an employee to break up a sixer for you. I work at Binny's Highland Park and I'll usually add a beer to the mix a six selection by request as long as the sixer is $9.99 or less.

But really the optimal solution is to just buy a full six pack because Anti-Hero.

Good to know! There's always a new beer that I'd love to try, but I'm not ready to commit to a full pack.

Love Anti-hero, but I'm a Eugene Porter girl at heart. Also sort of excited to see what kind of treats they bring to the Winter Brew in Lincoln Square tonight.

I'll just stand in the middle of the room and randomly shout the reminder for you. I'm sure nobody will notice.

Agreed, it was amazing at the Very Mad Cow release. I had several glasses, then had to sober up before driving home.

How was the very mad cow? Was it only released at a party? I'd like to try it

Eugene Porter is pretty solid? You like it as much as Founders Porter or Bell's Porter?

I thought this release of VMC was pretty thin and very hot compared to previous batches. I never bought any bottles, though, and maybe it tasted different/better that way. Revolution's website is showing that VMC is still available on draft at the brewery; I suspect they still have bottles ($15). Straightjacket (barrel-aged barleywine) was incredible, though. Can't recommend it enough.

Eugene is one of the greatest things to ever happen to six-packs. Compared to Founders, I'd say Eugene is a little brighter with a lot of up-front flavor. It's still balanced, though, and it's not like the mouthfeel/body/taste/finish drop off a cliff. Also according to Rev's website, the coffee version of Eugene is currently pouring - that won't be packaged, but they would will a growler.

I think so. Very easy to drink, robust chocolate & bitter coffee flavors, nice medium mouthfeel. Very well balanced. I don't buy much by the 6 pack (I prefer mix sixers for variety) but this one I do get the full 6 on Eugene.

coffee eugene is probably my favourite coffee beer. yes, even over breakfast stout, bcbs coffee, kbs, and speedway.

edit: pretty much anything rev makes ranges from good to amazing. the best barrel release was (imo) straightjacket for sure.

Also, I got to try their barleywine last night and it was delicious. Smooth & boozy, with no alcohol heat to mess it up. They sell that in bombers at Binnys too. At the beer fest last night thad a special pour of their Rye Stout that was outstanding. They only have that at the brewpub/tap room though.

I think I might actually agree about the coffe Eugene- it was one of those, 'this is why beer exists' experiences for me, that had me feeling bad that I could only leave with VMC and not a couple of Bean Gene (that's what it was called at the VMC release, right?) bombers.

Also, this thread has inspired me to visit the brewery today, as if I needed my arm twisted.
