Oh, now I see at the bottom "this can contains Black IPA". So a can.

The description/warning on both sides threw me off.

Just bring on that Firestone Walker. La Folie was middling last year and paled in comparison to many other Lips series..yeah I'll buy one or maybe two but its completely not worth chasing. Over the summer I was down in Galveston and they had a couple bottles of the past two releases sitting on the shelf at Specs.

I will also be buying a crap ton of that Apollo. Sixpoint has rather silently inserted a really nice lineup..it's way too easy to nab a four pack

Apollo is the veritable God of summer beers.

I'm still impressed at all the places Sixpoint has managed to get into. At least in Austin, it's hard to walk into any gas station and not see Resin, Sweet Action, and Bengali Tiger (if not more!).

Price point and format make it ideal for both small store walkins and shelves alike (one price for the most part and stackable). I wonder who got squeezed out on these stores resets..I am seeing less facing for Sierra Nevada around town.

For a matter of perspective when I worked for Red Bull, many gas stations would just buy cases of four pack instead of singles (they could be broken down and scanned as singles but the boxes could be crammed into more spots)

Here's the mockup of the actual ABW can:

I think I heard 4 different IPA's over the course of the year, this being the first.

I like to think 100% of my tax dollars went into the "what beer is being released in Texas soon" search engine

It also has a lot to do with their respective distributors. Sixpoint signed on with Brown, who is the local Budweiser distributor. Sierra is with Ben E Keith, who is primarily craft-oriented in Austin. Brown opens more doors on the retail side.

Awesome info. This must be a part of the calculus each brewery makes when deciding on distribution. Honestly it's nearly impossible to keep all this straight in my head. For as much hate as a spew toward the big distributors (mainly focused on their shortcomings in knowledge) it's gotta be tough staying focused on a particular release when the market and its products is expanding so rapidly.

This is exactly why the rumors of JK signing with Silver Eagle make me nervous. Top accounts like Spec's and Gabriel's will get more reliable service, but it's very likely we'll also be sharing our allotments with more HEBs and C-stores that don't give a shit about craft.

You of the magical 5 case load of Whiskey Barrel Rodeo a month after release

I may never let you live that one down, nor the infamous Bishops Barrel incident  just busting your chops...hope to see you at the next Freetail event.

Our store manager has a great business relationship with Virtuoso. I wouldn't be surprised if they dump off some more RU soon.

Lol, I figured a few people must've seen that. Not my proudest moment.

I know someone told me that on Friday at your happy hour, but after 4 Sputniks, my ability to retain data was significantly impaired..... :astonished:
