That's not true! Just the other night I bought a bottle of Utopias for $240 at the local bottle shop, then POUNDED it in the parking lot in one drink, an smashed the bottle against the wall.

It was worth it

 

That's why, when I bought it, it was in the chilled beer section... for those situations.

And yes, I will drink it. Probably over a six year period, but nonetheless.

it's true. i saw the whole thing. and i cried because i don't know how to take black and white photographs with my cell phone.

 

I paid $25 and $23 for Elijah Craig 12 year and Evan Williams respectively this year. You are correct, not even close to being worth it. There's no beer under 10% ABV should cost more than $20. The Eclipses' should price no more than $15 and would still be average at best. But better value.
Never again. Passed last 2 years on this when I knew better.

 

$160 for Sam Adams Utopias a few years back.
After that, I paid $35 for a Bruery Fruet just two days ago.

 

$40 for BCBS Rare & $44 for Orkney Dark Island Reserve. Would do both again.

 

Honestly not that impressive. A lot of much better strong ales out there. Taste-wise I've had very similar dessert wines that cost far less than that!

I think I paid about $23 for a 12 oz. bottle of Lost Abbey's Red Poppy Ale at a bar. Probably wouldn't do it again.

 

I was out at a bar once and paid $29 for a 750 of Allagash 4. Saw the same beer in the bottle shop for about $22. Great beer but I'd much rather pay the $22 and open it myself and not pay and addition $7 to have some girl open it for me.

 

$15 on an 8oz glass of Brewdog Tokyo at World Of Beer and $15 on a 12oz bottle of Bitch Please (FFF/Brewdog collaboration)... Neither were worth it, but I don't regret spending the money to try them either

Over $200 for Utopias. Yes it did get enjoyed. However there were very few people I would share it with. Yes it was worth every penny. I also know some local spots that were selling it by the shot. Yes, they did sell out.

 

Highest price I payed was about 1 euro for 1 cl.

 

Just bought my most expensive tonight. $25 for a 22oz bomber of Naughty Temple from Toppling Goliath.
