I have the opportunity to pick up a properly stored bottle from April 2011 for $39.99. Would it be worth it for trading purposes? Are these highly sought after or fairly common?

They are not really highly sought after, and are (as you see) expensive for a 750ml. It wouldn't trade for anything really "rare" if that is what you're asking. A quite enjoyable kriek, but something I wouldn't buy just to trade.

I look at one at that price every time I buy beer. Have yet to pull the trigger

I wasn't trying to circumvent anything. I was just asking a question. I don't know anything about Belgium beers. I guess I'll refrain from asking future questions. Thanks for jumping down my throat and being so helpful

Welcome! Take what he said with a grain a salt, brush it off and move on. He was just trying to help.

I've paid $40 for this beer twice, and don't regret it. But if you want to try and trade it $4$, you'll have trouble.

If you have to ask, then the answer is more likely than not, "no."

Thanks for the feedback on the beer. I guess we can agree to disagree on the rest of it. My question has been answered.

Look, its all about how you format your question. When I first signed up I did the same thing as did many others with the "What is the trade value of XXX beer". I got flamed and so does almost everyone else. Soon, after you troll the ISO:FT forums enough, you'll get a pretty good gauge of what goes for what. I've been told I was too generous and "WAY FUCKING OFF" in the same week. Like MarcatGSB said, just brush it off, this is the interwebs afterall.

A better way to format this question is: What has XXX beer been traded for lately? This comes off less like you're trying to 'win' the trade.

If it were me, I would just drink it, its delicious and you probably won't fetch a better lambic by trading it.

    Cheers

No, what you should have learned is filter the douche, and learn from the rest. An honest post is always worth it. Then have fun with the snark

On the other hand: you have bought a totally awesome kriek, and one that ages well. The 2010 is great right now and the 2011 ain't half bad either. Worth 40 bucks any day. Open it, share it with a friend and be amazed.

Damn, I like this beer. Can you tell?

Don't know what you intention is...I don't want to guess anyway...but yea as pointed out by another fellow BA, sometimes it's all about how you ask the question.

To answer your question- I bought a bottle of 750ml schaerbeekse kriek bottled at Apr 2011 last summer at a wholefoods 20% off event. I believe I walked out paying $27 after the discount. I've seen that beer sitting on shelves forever and that was why I waited for the 20%off event to pick it up. (literally, pick-it-up-from-the-shelf-at-the-20% off-event-bro) They are widely available in bay area, probably same batch, probably around or less than your price.

If you bought it already, just drink the damn thing and enjoy the shxt out of it.
