It's okay dude. 30+ years in and around craft beer, and I do learn new things all the time. BTW could have been factually correct but legally wrong: it has been fairly common for super in-demand beers, that families in the business with different locations to "spread around" product from one store to another. This is against the law and is violation of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission rules. Occasionally somebody will find a keg of Yuengling in an IL bar, or a six pack of Zombie Dust many miles from where it is supposed to be sold.

 

Jim, are suggestions welcome for your suburban keg only tasting?

If so, I'd suggest Brickstone Pale Ale.

I know Bourbonnais is a stretch for a suburb, but so is Algonquin.

 

Feelers have gone out to several IL brewers not currently marketed in the area here. I'll look into Brickstone. Thanks for the suggestion!

Off topic, has anyone been to Mackey's Hideout in McHenry? Looks like they had a Bell's tap takeover last night with some good stuff.

 

It's the last place in the world you'd assume would have an awesome selection, but they do. That being said, I've never risked going there at night...

 

Why is that? It's not ghetto. I assume it's a little bit redneck, though.

 

I've gone during the day and it's moderately "redneck", so I assume the night crowd further reflects that. But in no way am I talking bad about it, 'cause the owner is nice as hell and the selection is great. I'd strongly recommend stopping in if you haven't been.

Better here than a separate thread.... we are flying a little under the radar, folks.

There are probably other store Twitter feeds- we have 29 stores, but I cannot find them. However we have a Beer Manager meeting Wednesday- hopefully I'll get a list of all.

 

It'd be super cool if the managers in Naperville and St. Charles did this...

They may be. Twitter isn't all that user-friendly in the search dept.

Nope. I will update the list here when I find new feeds. I am pretty sure almost every store (or indeed, every store), will have them by the end of next week.

 

I heard that Bloomingdale has one but I can't find it.

 

Me and some of my friends were there they had Black Note on tap along with Hopslam Third Coast and a bunch of others Three Floyds Alpha King, Goose Island BCBS and a great bottle list We won 3 shirts. Had a good time not the nicest place but far from the worst Ive been to.
