My name is Nichole. I live near SLC, UT, and in the past year I've discovered that beer is so much more than a means to smashing parties. This realization was solidified during a weeklong visit to Oregon, whose local beer scene is the polar opposite of that of Utah's: diverse and liberalized.
Here in Utah, we're asphyxiated by ridiculous state regulations on ABV limits and suffocating liquor laws. Hence, there is only a small handful of local breweries (a few we do have, though, are just as good as you'd find out-of-state, and are true gems in Utah's otherwise bleak beer landscape).
This journey of loving beer for its variety and complexity just began; I'm not a connoisseur by any means. I hope to keep learning and growing with each new experience, and I'm grateful for this venue to help me link vocabulary to what I'm seeing, smelling, tasting, and feeling. Also grateful for a place to document and express that subjective experience with others, as well as understand how others interpret these senses.
