    Going to be brutally honest; I liked neither mastodon and Bluesky, wanna be X (whatever one think of Musk) and they IMO aren’t going anywhere. Cheering on having some 25M users? Elon and Zuck must be shaking.

    It's about the underlying protocols that are driving it, expanding the social web, and changing how we connect and identify ourselves online. ActivityPub, AT Protocol, Nostr, etc. Soon you'll be using one of these protocols without even knowing it.
    
    Why do you think Threads (Meta) is federating? (On Mastodon, I can now follow people on Threads and vice versa.)

    By the way, Mastodon is only one platform on ActivityPub. There are scores of others doing different things, but they can all talk to each other. Example: You can publish to the fediverse on Wordpress, or eventually Tumblr (they're working on federating), and I can follow and engage with you on Mastodon and vice versa.

    Well, tamales are technically Mesoamerican. My wife also has Mexican roots, but living in Denver and Los Angeles really took my appreciation for Mexican food to new levels.
    
    But recently we found a Mexican family who runs a store here in Helsinki, where we bought the husks, masa, chiles, tomatillos, and beans imported from Mexico. Got the pork and lard from a local butcher.
