    Falstaff bought Narragansett in the mid-60's but didn't close the Rhode Island brewery until the early '80's, at which time most of the RI-brewed brands moved to Ft. Wayne and other S&P owned breweries. Like most regional beers, Narragansett was always a bit cheaper than the nationally distributed "premium" beers and the larger regionals.
