Stopped by the store today and finally saw some Avery bombers, which I've never seen in southeastern PA before, or anywhere for that matter.. Grabbed this and a bottle of Maharaja (which will also be a first for me). Dear god this is good. Definitely unlike any barleywine I've ever had. Really unique hop profile.

Why choke down a bottle of something you don't like? Chalk up the loss, move on, and don't make the same mistake again. I love alot of the stuff from DFH but that one wasn't doing it for me unfortunately...at all.

    Cheers.

Several months ago I picked up my wife from getting her hair did in Philly.
As we pulled out from Fern Rock station, she asked me if I'd ever had an Evil Twin beer.
I said yes, but the Imperial Biscotti Break had eluded me and was the one ET brew I wanted to try more than any other.

She proceeded to tell me she had it in hand earlier that same day but decided not to buy it.

Started off the evening with a draft of The Bruery Humulus, which was surprisingly good considering that I'm not a big fan of lagers. Honestly, you'd never guess it: significantly bitter, yet bright and fruity like a well-hopped ale—an all-round delicious beer.

Next up was Manayunk Dreamin' DIPA: nice and fruity with a considerable malt backbone. Not nearly as hoppy as Humulus, but tasty nonetheless.

Capped off dinner with Sixpoint 3Beans, a solid baltic porter. Aside from a a few beers that I had from their Spice of Life series, in my opinion it might be one of the brewery's better offerings.

Now I'm trying Terrapin Mosaic, a single hop red/amber ale making exclusive use of the relatively new hop strain. Over all, it's quite flavorful. However, given it's pedigree of a Simcoe-Nugget offspring, I guess I expected a little more. Still, it remains a quaffable beer.

What's up next is anyone's guess. Hope all you fellow BAs are having a great night!

Where are you shopping in SE PA?
My usual shops carry Avery bombers most all the time.

Sipping on Bigfoot, watching this unpredictable basketball tournament, and shooting some darts with a close friend. This is my kind of Friday night (apart from the JMU loss, of course).
