Man, they let a Flyers fan in there? That place is going downhill.

And by the way, that Flyers fan knows they don't have to wear that shirt anymore until the season starts again for them in October right? haha

Another massive beer - a must-try RIS - everything about this beer is spot-on, from the name, the label, and most importantly, the beer itself... Old Rasputin

Here's a couple of metal songs about the man himself:
Mastodon's "The Czar," about the Czar's wife trying to warn Rasputin about the plot to assassinate him...

Therion's "Khlysti Evangelist," describing the black monk himself...

    *To Rasputin!*

Delicious. Similar to Convivial Suarez but with perhaps a more pronounced citrus flavor.

I think they date their bottles near the bottom just under the label, much easier to see when upside down/bottle is empty. I've also had hard luck getting fresh Hop Rod, which sucks because the first few times I had it (I assume fresh) I loved it. The last few times not nearly as good (9ish months old)

Started earlier with the Chocolate Sombrero, then had an Orval with my dinner. Now this...

I'm having a Joanie Loves Sorachi from Naked City while waiting for one of my absolute favorite musicians to play a show at one of my locals. Here's a taste:

Latest in my glass is a 101 North Heroine IPA - very tasty. Malty, resiny, like a West Coast version of Victory's Hop Devil. It is a new brewery in Petaluma, right next to Lagunitas, founded by the former brewer at Bear Republic, a guy who claims at least partial credit for creating Racer 5.

Bear Republic keeps live yeast in the bottle and, I am told, times the release of its beer so as to hit peak freshness when it arrives at the store, so waiting around to drink it is usually a bad idea.

When a beer arrives at the distributor (from the brewery) and when it arrives at a store, in my experience, can be two quite different things. The last couple cases of Hop Rod Rye we got at the store I work at were already 4+ months from bottling date. In those situations (with bottled on dates opposed to 'best by' dates) it's near impossible to get a distributor to take them back (often they'll point to the ABV and say it's good for 12 months), which isn't terribly surprising considering they're the ones losing money when they take out of date beer. Got to pick your battles regarding which old beers you fight them to take back. /end rant

edit: unless you're saying Bear Republic holds onto bottles for weeks/a month after the bottling date until they think it's good to go, then sends it to distributors? I guess I always assumed bottling date pretty much translated to the date it left the brewery, but I could be wrong.

Drinking this local Coffee Ale that is a collab between Ruhstaller brewing and Old Soul Coffee. The first sip was a eye opener and was not sure I liked it. As I drank more I began to really dig it.

Visiting the West Coast, so I decided to try to soak up as much of the local flavor as I can. Kicked things off with Hair of the Dog Michael, a lovely (not so) little Flanders Red that packs a tasty punch. Moved on to a Seizoen Bretta by Logsdon, also out of the great state of Oregon. Moving south, I'm presently sampling Brouwerij West's blackberry saison, Dog Ate My Homework. Next is anyone's guess, but there is a Hair of the Dog Blue Dot DIPA and Almanac Barrel Noir on the table (literally). Looks like it's gonna be a long night.
