My first. I may become an IPA fan yet. Very delicious and smooth. Not too hoppy or bitter. As the commercial says, "We want more. We want more."

 

Couple pours at CCB (Mango Habanero Jai Alai and Pineapple Upside Down Lager)



Now on to IMHO the most under rated IPA in the Southeast.

First time for me, thanks Mersh! Trying to decide whether to stay in or shoot down to Stone for brewer's night with Societe . . .

 

Enjoying some Double Trouble as I am pumped that our Dave Matthews tix for next week finally arrived in the mail today. For us, summer does not officially start until we hit our first DMB show of the season. Cheers all!

Dude way to old. The hops have definitely faded too much by now.

 

When I saw "Bourbon Barrel Stout" from a new brewer (to me, that is), I was excited. But when I saw the middling abv, I realized this wasn't an Imperial. Maybe its just the alcoholic in me, but if its aged in bourbon barrels, I'm expecting something strong and rich and decadent.

This was thin, porter-ish, a little smoky, and probably just not what I was expecting when I bought it. Not particularly complex - more of a light drinking beer. Actually reminded me of a lighter, drier version of Full Sail's BBA porter. It was a reasonable enough drink, but just a little off-point for me.

The upside: local beer store's gonna have a Parabola for me tomorrow! Now that's how you barrel age a stout.
Another upside: this was beer review No. 399, which'll set me up for my 400th review in this week's New Beer Sunday thread. Gonna have to find something really interesting for that one. Hopefully I'll see you there.

First beer I have drank straight from a bottle in a while, and definitely preferred that way. Digging it.

 

Mmmm, barrel-aged stuff... makes me happy.

 

I agree drain pour that puppy we don't want no 1 day old beers

 

Happy accident indeed.. Unbelievable(!) Wish they had the new Berliner Weiss last Friday when I picked it up. Had a LH Milk Stout before this.
