Thanks for the reply Clark! It was disappointing, because I have had MF before, and it was pretty damn good. So I expected that experience again. You guys are supplying kegs for North liberty Blues and BBQ right?

Every time I've had Falcon it's been awesome.

I have had Nugget and some other beers from Reds (Two Hearted, etc) that tasted like crap from time to time. I know they know how to clean the lines, I just wonder if they always do it and always do it right. I don't know for sure so all just speculation. But I do believe Reds has lost its focus as a premier beer bar and instead is tryng to do other things.

My Dad stopped by last night. He is not a craft beer drinker by any means, more of a Miller Lite guy. I didn't have any BMC for him, so I poured him a glass of Golden Nugget from my Growler from the Nova. He said it tasted like flowers…but he did ask for a second glass!

Had a Millenium Falcon that was all diacetyl as well. It's not the lines; it's this batch of beer. It takes like slimy butter.

TG makes good beers, but they need to be able to look in the mirror when they make one that isn't good. This batch of Millenium Falcon went wrong. They shouldn't sell it.

If true I agree. I haven't had any of this batch.

Where was it that you had Millennium Falcon?

If there is indeed a problem with the keg at Red's, we'll take care of it. I'd say that calling the entire batch bad would be jumping the gun. Everything we've heard about this batch from everywhere else has been extremely positive. This makes me think it's a localized problem at Red's. That said, we'll certainly look into it being a larger problem than that.

I've only been fortunate enough to have four things from Toppling Goliath thus far. Growlers of Millennium Falcom and Golden Nugget, and bottles of Assassin and Sosus. All four represented excellent drinking experiences. The Millennium Falcon, in particular, was absolutely fantastic. I hope I get further opportunities to drink their stuff going forward.

To all of our craft beer customers:

Be assured, we have not lost our focus. Our beer specialist cleans our lines bi-weekly to Brewers Association standards. When we switch brands the line also receives a static cleaning.

Our mission as always, is to bring you the best craft beers possible and set a standard for the industry on a regional level.

    See you soon!

    Cheers,

    Whitney Elwood

You can email TG's at [email protected]. You know they do their own distribution, so the only two places to go to report is the bar and the brewery. As you see they went straight to the source and personally fixed it.

From Facebook: Reds will be closing at 1 pm today, due to mechanical problems (brunch only). We will also have to be closed for lunch tomorrow as well. So very sorry for the inconvenience...

I seriously doubt it. I had a couple of other beers the night I had MF, and they were fine. Most likely the A/C is broke.

    Great post Whitney,

Of course you know I don't need much of a reason to come down to Red's to taste some great beers and great food!

We are all in this together, brewery, dist, accounts and customers. You can all rest assure that accounts like Red's and great brewery's they server are doing everything we can to insure you get the best beer possible. We clearly are not perfect as a brewery, but are in pursuit of perfection at all times. A sample of every beer is tested before it goes out the door, and if a keg is bad, it is retested. We are public about it because the public is our boss!

BTW, great to see you again .

    Cheers!

    Clark

If anyone ever needs a "craft cocktail" the place to go is "The Aviary" or "Violet Hour" both in Chicago.

I've been to Violet Hour a few times, great for the sensory experience and pretty pretentious when it comes to the cocktails and everything else. Plus, I'm not a $18 cocktail kind of fellow. It's a fine thing when someone else is paying.
