So for those of you that frequent the Denver Beer Hunter's Report, I just put up a poll. Please visit and give your answer regarding special releases.

Although many people may not agree with the bottle limit no matter what the case, as I understand it the bottle limits are that high because Chad wants to encourage people to have as much as possible to keep and experience the beer developing over time. I think that argument is a bit stronger for releases like Stranahan's *********, which just seemed like completely off-base for the number of people that showed up. That was also freezing cold, and there was no party at all. Cellarists are hobbyists, and that's why I (personally) don't think it's a big deal to have lines or high bottle limits or anything else of the sort. Plus, we made that thing one hell of a party. If you can't have fun at a Crooked Stave release, you may need to seek psychological attention.

Dude, thanks for bringing Oskar the G'Rauch. I had been wanting to try that for awhile now, and it was one of my favorite beers of the day. Totally goes to show that no one should ever feel intimidated about a bottle share or what they're bringing to the table - which I heard from some folks while I was there. Just bring something, chances are good someone will be really happy it was there.

Ok 2012....I'm not trying to bring you guys down but I've been to a lot of beer releases here and in CA and its sort of sad to see people wasted before noon. Personally I like to go and have my samples, buy my bottles, and that is enjoyable enough. Showing up with a cooler of beer to a beer release is just odd to me. Do wine drinkers do this at wine releases?

I personally had a fantastic time yesterday. I arrived around 10:30 and there were maybe 50 people ahead of me. I guess I was not surprised at all by the turnout. I think we all need to look at the demographic that's buying up Crooked Stave beers. It's a much more diverse and expanded crowd than you see at,for example, a release like Blighs or Uncle Jacobs. I was literally the last person to receive a full allocation at the Volunt release so I knew I needed to arrive twice as early. This is not a bad thing. Crooked Stave is absolutely killing it right now and the guys over there are maintaining a great attitude about it. The line moved slowly yesterday for a myriad of reasons, but also because Chad was personally talking with people as they bought their beer. Sure, it makes the line a little slower, but its cool to see him so excited to share his craft.

The bottle share was great. I tried some amazing new beers and met some awesome people and BAs. I'd like to personally thank Fortsambo, Narayan, salukialum, blindpiggie, drlovemd, Hessma, denverbeerdrinker, joshclauss, and forgetfu for sharing. Especially forgetfu for the pour from the 3L supplication, and joshclauss for the HF double citra and the awesome HF washed cheese. It was also nice to see Mr. B. hadnt seen him in a while. There are a lot of great guys and girls out there in our community. It was my pleasure to meet and share with you all.

I do agree that there's room for improvement. Do bottle sales out the back, or develop a better way to queue for bottles. Cash only, or at least a second person would help move people out quicker as well. Tickets could have been helpful as well in order to give people a better feel as to whether they were going to get bottles or not.

At the end of the day, its just beer. Crooked Stave will continue to crank out awesome stuff and I look forward to seeing many of you on 6/2.

    Nice, that's a good one.

I was there until 3 yesterday and did not see a single person who looked wasted. I saw people enjoying great beer and company. The state of the restrooms is usually a good indicator of the sobriety of the people at the event, and it did t even look like anyone had used the bathroom when I left at 3.
Dozens of BAs and hundred of Coloradans did this yesterday, but they didn't have the urge to come here and bash the folks that enjoy other facets of a beer release.
Who cares what wine drinkers do?

I had an absolute blast. Got there very early as I got shut out at Avery. Loved getting to see everyone and meet many new BAs. So many good people in the small world of CO beer nerds. The bottle share was top notch as well.

My cousin was there yesterday and got shut out. He's not on BA, so I don't think he realized how early he had to be there, but oh well. He had some fun still. If anyone has an extra, I'd love to be able to share a bottle with him when I am out there next.

Did anyone get a picture of the boneyard yesterday? It was pretty impressive when I left.

And whoever left the empty bomber of '09 BCBS in my cooler bag is just cruel.

That '09 BCBS bottle sat there for a half hour as I think everyone assumed it was empty. I did not
I had to really keep things under control, but I can't say "no" to that beer, and especially that vintage.

Hmm, I think it was empty when I pulled it out of my bag, but I could have been mistaken.

I was in a rush to get out yesterday. Had to get back up here to Greeley and help my daughter put the finishing touches on her 5th grade history diorama: The Battle of the Alamo.

Lol, I managed my consumption quite well yesterday considering the caliber of beers being poured both in and outside the taproom.

I did wear a **** skin hat while we finished.

It was definitely empty. It was sitting on a table filled with empty bottles for quite a while before I noticed it was still about 1/4 full. I polished it off with a guy who was in town from Oklahoma.
