Edit: Maybe not. Looks like it might be both a capacity and capability issue.

I had an issue a couple of months ago, but bottles only - growlers have all been spectacular.

My fault. I was only referring to bottles.

Hit up Societe and check out the Pupil. A good substitute for Nelson.

Nice surprise Saturday @ BW2ND was the fresh keg of Pupil. I introduced it to a couple neighbors of mine who went with me that had never had it and all three were blown away.

    Cheers.......

For me, it's a good substitute for Pliny.

Interesting that you should say that as one of my friends Saturday said it was a better Pliny.:grimacing:

    Cheers......

Totally bro. I actually liked it better in the past as well. The reason why alpine is so great is that lesser Nelson is still better than any San Diego IPA. Except maybe for The Pupil. I just don't like the dodgers. Sorry for fucking with you.

The last couple batches seem pretty light on the nelson, but normally I would agree. Actually, there is no substitute for Nelson. Never mind.

Had a bottle last night which was picked up from the brewery this weekend. Was as delicious as ever. Beer was spot on!

I guess they're going to have three separate facilities then once the Cold Water deal gets done?

Is it in the cards for Alpine to secure its own larger facilities in Alpine the next year or two, or is that on the back burner with these deals?

Based on the article, it sounded like Green Flash is a temporary partner, subject to Green Flash's rate of growth. If Green Flash needs the tank space, Alpine will get squeezed out.

The last time Pat wrote about it, he said it was in the cards eventually, but that contract brewing is a means to that end.

In my opinion, the prospects of getting investors are unlikely to get substantially better than they were a year or so ago. Sooner or later, breweries won't be a hot trend for people to throw money at - if Alpine doesn't get their expansion done before that time comes, I don't think they'll be in as good of a position to get financing/investments as a lot of other breweries of their size. That's purely speculation based on current factors though, and speculation from a pessimist at that.

Can't wait to do a side-by-side-by-side with a draft, bottle, and can pour.

I love Bad Boy when it's on, but I haven't found it to be a consistent beer, so my excitement is always guarded when I hear they're releasing it. I think it's their second least consistent behind Expo, which is, well, inconsistent :slight_frown:

Keene idea is a nice beer. I think Bad Boy is better in your head than in actuality.
