That's because the suit would open Pandora's Box.

Well, by the end of 2013, that's not gonna be the case.

I'd be interested to hear why you say that, though.

There are many more that involve a cease and desist letter which are never made public. Usually not in anyone's best interest to go public.

Oskar Blues had an imperial red named Gordon & Gordon Biersch pressured them to change the name. OB now calls it G'Knight.

I'd like to see Third Street sue AB over third shift.

Or Lagunitas over that "beer enhancing" mio bullshit (obvious image ripoff)...

After reading all these times Lagunitas has gone after small guys, SweetWater going after them for 420 is just fitting if anything. Practice what you preach, Tony.

Yes- and I had a chance to meet the California Mother Earth people at CBC this year. They are a delight and are being bullied by the NC Mother Earth which has a slightly different name (Brew Co vs. Brewing) and came up with the name second. Sad ....

MillerCoors would probably enjoy that lawsuit, too (seeing as they are the brewers of Third Shift). :grinning:

    Ok, details details... Haha

I tried to edit it, but now I can't... Why can't I edit old posts? That's stupid.

Back when Smuttynose was in its infancy, they had a red triangle behind the seal on their label.I remember reading that smutty was contacted by Bass ale w/a letter saying to immediately change the label as it was "very similar" to theirs.Long story short is Smutty thought it was ridiculous,at the time they didn't have the sort of cash to lawyer up and fight it.So they changed it to what it is now. That "triangle" became the mountain top you see to this day.In the end, smutty was happy as their label became a lot better looking.

    On a side note:

    Not brewery vs. brewery but,

Lucas Films vs. New England Brewing Co. was interesting......:stuck_out_tongue:

    Cheers All.......

Lucas films vs sierra nevada over sierras beer called "empire strikes black"

So much for the oft-repeated line we read on threads about how craft breweries aren't in it for "the almighty dollar" but for the love of brewing. Looks like plenty of them are pretty concerned about the business end of the industry too. As well they should be.
