If you're going to break out pumpkin beers early, make them good.

I appreciate the notion that releasing these autumn ales in July detracts from their seasonal appeal. However, I love these brews and I'm thrilled to see them on the shelves. In fact, I picked up a six pack of SA Octoberfest and Foothills Cottonwood Pumpkin Ale this morning. It was refreshing to take in the pumpkin ale this evening and taste the signature flavors of my favorite season.

I happily picked up some Schlafly Pumpkin Ale straight from the tap room today. I must say, it's a bit thinner than I remember, and the booze is more noticeable than I remember.

I saw pumpkin beers for the first time this year while I was out and about earlier today. Smuttynose, Harpoon UFO, and Long Trail Imperial. The Long Trail was bottled 06/28/13. That's just not right.

With the on-off again cool weather in Iowa lately, it does seem plausible.

Last night I bought a single of Weyerbacher, and Wolavers, and a hoppin frog bomber. Have been drinking SA Octoberfest and SN Tumbler.

EVO's Jacques Au Lantern... when it's out...getcha sum. Hopped-up Pumpkin.
Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale is a close 2nd! They seem to go head to head locally each year.
    But I must agree...July...Early August...Too F'g Early!

Schlafly Pumpkin is where it begins and ends for me although I'd like to try some others.

I did get to sample New Belgium Pumpkick on their tour last week. It was okay. A bit too sour for my taste.

Not going to lie, I have a case of Pumking reserved and have no plans to drink one until I'm doing a fantasy football draft in three weeks, but I saw some fresh Southampton Pumpkin on shelves yesterday and almost dove in. It really just comes down to I just want it to be Fall already. The nights are getting very cool around here in Pittsburgh though so I'll take the compromise.

I walked into a shop today and saw about 5 cases of Pumking on the floor. Might be from last year knowing the way some stuff sits in that shop (I rarely go there) but that is a lot of Pumking.

5 cases would be gone in a few hours here. some stores get anywhere from 10-20 cases and its usually gone in 2 days.
