Finally tracked this down. Thanksgiving with the family is going to be in Chicago next year...

 

2011 Abyss. I promised myself this one would get consumed as soon as Fall classes were over. Its time has come.



Wow. Incredible beer. It's like ultra-concentrated Russian Imperial Stout.

 

I had this last night for the first time. Really glad I picked up a 2nd. I might have to pick up some more…

 

Saison '88

 

Spent the afternoon finishing some Christmas shopping with the family had a good meal at a local diner and now enjoying a delicious beer from Founders.

With a storm on its way for tomorrow afternoon this seems like a fitting song:

It is supposed to get nasty. I have some Belgians and Imperial stouts in the cellar to keep me entertained. Cheers!

 

Trying a Baltimore Washington Beer Works The Cask of Amontillado. It's a really drinkable doppelbock, hides the 8% abv almost too well. It's got it's ups and downs, glad I tried it though!

 

Time for a beer after spending 6 hours making tamales:

 

Snowed in and this one is treating me just right.

 

Got the Christmas tree up today. Wife and I enjoying some Troegs Perpetual now. Cheers.

 

Drinking my first BCBCS ever. Holy hell!

 

Setting up the Christmas tree and watching the SEC Championship.

 

Be Hoppy. Good lingering hops taste and feels like something where you could pound a couple pretty quickly. Would be good while working the Green Egg.

 

I'm trying to get it from their taproom since it's only 3 miles from me

 

Watching my Noles hopefully punch their ticket to the NC Game while sipping on this..

Laying there staring up at the ceiling, head pounding, last night was a dim recollection. How did we get home? Was he alone? Looking to the left and to the right, the answer was yes, maybe. His head was full of 'rag water, bitters and blue ruin'. His teeth felt like he'd been chewing aluminum and his breath smelled like a burning tractor tire. There was a wrenching knot somewhere between his liver and East St Louis and he couldn't be sure whether or not he'd wet himself. A yellow sine wave rang in his ears so loud it made his teeth itch and he was sure that if he touched his skin anywhere it would induce a rhythmic retching jag. Even in the face of all that, he found himself smiling at the realization that today represented the fresh breast of a new year - an undiscovered country - and also that there was still one warm, half-full flat redolent Hairy Eyeball on the nightstand.
