    My mother's 89th birthday. We took her out to her favorite restaurant, Richard's, a German place in Brunswick, ME. I had a couple Weihenstaphaner Korbinian doppelbocks. Very nice!

    The local shop got in a ton of great beer (some of which you'll be seeing later tonight), but the surprise - not listed on their website - was this little gem you may have heard of, which I didn't think we'd be seeing in this area at all.

    This is fantastic, but I don't like it nearly as much as BCBS, and I put it below Founders Backwoods Bastard, personally. I think it's a great, great bourbon beer, but it seems to overwhelm a lot of the barleywine characteristics. I look forward to seeing how it ages. Review below.

    Trying local Isley Brewing's "The Bribe," an oatmeal porter to go with Breakfast for Dinner: mini quiches in tater tot crust and homemade polenta. I'm enjoying the porter, will have to have it for actual breakfast someday~

    Zure Van Tildonk Sour Blonde. I love sours and since having a bunch of Russian River sours I'm always looking for something that compares. This beer is good and slightly sour but nothing like the RR brews I love.
