Is Palo Santo considered a Brown Ale? If so its the best Brown Ale I've ever had most of them taste the same to me.

Yes, it is! But It's really an Imperial Brown Ale/border line Imperial Stout.....but brown. It is the best one for sure! Unless you can find another 10-13% ABV to compare it with.

Saw this on my local store shelf and had to grab a couple of bottles. Nils Oscar Bordsöl (table beer). It's a 2.7% pale ale from one of Sweden's largest craft breweries. It uses "a generous amount" of caramel malt as well as cascade, amarillo, saaz and tettnanger hops. In Sweden there are three lower-abv classes of beer, 3.5%, 2.8% and 2.1%. All of which are allowed to be sold in any grocery store or kiosk. But until recent years the beers which were available tended to be watered down versions of macro brands. This beer is part of a revival of this class of beer by craft breweries, and I think it's a competent beer at that. The hops are in the forefront, and they are very much similar to the hop profile of Brooklyn Lager with a similar bitterness (so maybe 30 IBUs?), which I had previous to this.

The malts are in the background, and it's a really dry malt body despite the caramel malts, but it works along with the hoppiness and bitterness, the caramel malts prevent it from being too thin, and instead it becomes similar to a standard German pilsner instead. The comparison with a German pilsner is also helped by the fact that it's very clean, I was thinking that it was supposed to be a lager until I looked it up and found out it was supposed to be a pale ale. Very well executed I will say.

A cool day here in WMass, freeze is coming.
Long Trail Culmination, I sincerely appreciate the direction they are taking.
Well thought out and crafted offerings in the Brush and Barrell series.
The Brewmaster and the Label artist warrant high praise.

    Cheers all

Rogue * Hazelnut Brown Nectar ... good beer but I think Moose Drool Brown Ale is just as good (maybe better) and cheaper.
