Troegs Nugget Nectar, first time this year. I'm freshly reminded of why I anticipate each release.

Lager Taste off: HB 3.96 edges out Fest 3.85. Why? because if I was going to choose another, it would be HB!
A german from Munich and a czech from Oregon.

    Hofbrau Original 3.96
    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

I was ready to dismiss, ready to make a black and tan out of it.
But HB just totally pleased me, here in the middle of winter. A beautiful clear lager.

A: Bright pale golden color, the big frothy white head comes up, and leaves dots of lacing, but there's very little visible carbonation to support it.

Smell: Clean, fresh grassy aroma, faint but balancing noble hops.

Taste: Super fresh and crisp. Pears, grass, hay, nobel hops, onto of a soft unsalted pretzel malt base. Refreshing, and surprisingly big, with a great finish and a long pleasant clean aftertaste. Will be GREAT with food.

Feel: One of the best mouth feels for a light beer ever. Must try.

I wish I could get a permanent supply of this in cans. As others wrote, it's not much to analyze, just drink, enjoy and not wonder why it's so simple yet so good.

Full Sail Session FEST (Brown Lager) 3.85/
    look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Short bottle, short review, best I've had from Session. (Full Sail)

A: Pours a clear, red-amber-mahogany body with a brief, near white head that fades and doesnt lace.

S: Toasty rye bread/wheat bread combo with caramel and maybe some hazel nut spread or a drizzle of toffee. (good but faint)

T: Wonderfully follows smell, w toasted, full grain bread more flow of caramel, nuttiness, zesty, spicy hops that provide bitterness to balance. Then into a long, drying, malty back end with a very pleasant lingering bitter sweet spicy finish. Taste is best part.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Light carbonation, but good tingly mouth feel.

O: A dark Lager, or mid-dark Czech style. Very original, very good, very good food beer. Must try, but a bit too sweet for me to make it a regular, or a, well, a session. I think it's a winter seasonal.

Sounds tasty indeed. Don't think I've had anything from Sweden as of yet. May have to look into fixing that

Before I had even scrolled down enough to see your comment, I was all, 'man, what cool label art'! Heh. I'll admit, sometimes I bad to pick beers I don't know by their labels. Might as well throw this one on the list

Tried the Sprecher's Bootlegger's Bourbon Barrel Hard Root Beer (no picture), unfortunately I couldn't stand it. Really wanted to like that one too, just completely missed for me. First drain pour of 2014.

So I went with one that never disappoints.

Wow. This is a beer for West Coast style hop heads. Massive pine bomb. Fantastic! Can see why this had won a Gold at GABF. Getting Elevated! Thanks, Kevin!
