Hahaha! There can be no barrel program without a malt backbone ...

For regular old IPA's, I would have gone with Hop Devil or Crooked Tree.

Is it still considered Malt if it is just pure candy sugar?

If only Deschutes brewed Hop in The Dark this year. That was magical

Greenbush brother Benjamin, that stuff drinks almost like a barleywine. But it is a pretty good beer nonetheless.

Came in to this topic to say Hi-Res as well. Solid brew, and despite the high IBU and ABV, you wouldn't even know it without looking at the can. The malt really blends nicely with the hops and makes for an exception beer...I'm seriously kicking myself for only getting a single can and not a whole 4-pack!

Devil Dancer and Maharaja have been mentioned quite a bit, and I'd agree. Would also enter Triple Voodoo 8 Tentacles into the conversation (not as largest, but large nonetheless).

The ‘regular’ IPAs that have a substantial malt backbone to my palate are: Victory Hop Devil, Dogfish Head 60 minutes, Southampton Burton IPA and Deschutes Inversion IPA.

    Cheers!

The Sly Fox 113 I had the other day was pretty heavy on the malt

I agree, but at least Hi-res was a bit more balanced than devil dancer.
