So, I started to write some notes on a bottle of Avril, but have since decided that it is far too skunked to write a decent and fair review.

Not saying I don't enjoy it, but it's just not what it's supposed to be.

Mission Dark Seas. First time trying it. Not bad. But definitely not what I was expecting from a Russian Imperial Stout.

I had the bacon maple rogue and it almost made me puke. Maybe I should have clarified... A good stout paired with a warm glazed donut = good stuff. Donut beer.... Maybe not so much. Although there is a glazed donut beer I have seen floating around the forums, you never know

Really good stuff! Lemon, lime, pear, apple, banana, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, bubblegum, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very well balanced malt/yeast ester flavors and quite crisp for the ABV.

Great Scotch Ale. Big raisin, plum, fig, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, light smoke, herbal, and toasted/yeast earthiness. Tons of robustness and extremely smooth for the ABV. I'm a fan.

This was awesome! The aromas were more yeast forward with fruitiness, but the flavors had a ton of barrel flavor that was super well balanced. Apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, agave, caramel, vanilla, toffee, clove, oak, bourbon, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Lots of delicious vanilla/toffee character from the barrels in the flavors. Damn well done.

Wow, Lovely doppelbock. Tons of malt complexity and big robustness; with caramel, toffee, brown bread, toast, and light chocolate with some light raisin/plum yeast fruits; with a great presence of vanilla and pecans to round it out. Love it.

The night kinda turned into food-mageddon. Home made vittles...pad Thai, red curry pork over jasmine rice, garlic chicken, potstickers. The beer stayed pretty light...jacks Abby Lashes, JA Sunny Ridge pilsner (yummy), someone snuck in a glass of white wine (huh. I have wine???) Chocolate cake absolutely required coffee Framinghammer. Cribbage was played, Olympics were watched, everyone is gone home, and we are watching the Celtics play for ping pong balls. Berliner Braun is in the cooler for tomorrow. Wanted to bust it out and share it, but we didn't think it wise to go with sour on top of chocolate cake and coffee porter....
