Head Hunters Hop Ju Ju, tremendous DIPA. Nicely balanced hop bomb that's incredible and not killer bitter. I love Sue as well as most TG stuff I've had is terrific, but Ju ju is on a different level all together.

Fuzzy Baby Ducks causes a ruckus every time it's released.

Nubian Overlord by 18th St in Gary, IN was killer. Limited release in bombers, but keep your eye on this little (for now) craft brewery.

Hoppy birthday also real nice. Was fortunate to have growler two weeks ago. Hope they put that brew in bombers.

While I thought Hop JuJu was great, IBUsive is PHENOMENAL! Just had Bodhi last night, and while it's a good beer (smells like Pliney), it doesn't stand out to me. I have another growler of it (pegasus fill), so maybe that will change. IBUsive has the best nose of any beer I've ever smelled, and it follows through. I highly recommend people start trading for growlers of it asap!

I would put IBUsive up against any IPA out there.

There are 2 new VT ones that are ridiculously good and supposedly close to being canned.

    - Lawson's - Sip of Sunshine
    - Fiddlehead - 2nd Fiddle

Maine beer fans keep talking about the Substance from Bissell Brothers - comes in 16 oz cans but is more of an IPA than a Double IPA at 6.5% - very hard to get and haven't tried it yet so can't say for sure...but will be searching for some this weekend!

I'm partial to Pipeworks. Square Grouper could be this for sure, but due to ingredient restraints most likely won't ever be a "regular" beer. I am pretty confident that within time, and expansion of equipment, Pipeworks can find a way to bring the masses something on par with Heady, Pliny, etc. If not something they already do (which I think are as good), then something new.

To compare with Heady or Pliny it's going to have to be a small bottle format. That's going to cut out Pipeworks and my favorite IPA - Permanent Funeral. Sticking with the small bottle/can format theory I'm going with OTWOA.

Hop JuJu is otherworldly. I've had both Pliny and Heady and neither can hold a candle to the JuJu.

JuJu, hop drop, freak ofnature, I personally prefer ghandi bot or hop drop.

when DRIPA starts getting bottled i think it will be pretty sought after. also i dont understand why Surly IPAs dont get traded for more often. personally i would rather have their stuff over Heady.

    OMG this was once real?

Anyhow my vote would be Kane Overhead or Head High, either one. Both do what the Plinys do so well -- the oh wow initial moment later followed by the OH WOW moment at the end of the pint when you realize they're so insanely balanced that you're not hop fatigued at the end.

Pliny the Younger sits on its throne of hype because it's so hard to get an audience with the king that when you do, you feel compelled to say it was "worth it" to justify the 5 hours in a line on a day you took off work. It's an incredible beer, but what's more incredible is there are many more than Pliny.

Tree House Julius--just a wonderful example of a straight forward IPA
NEBCO Fuzzy Baby Ducks is another (a single hope Citra)

Both have the wait lines whenever the beers come out

    Congress street IPA by Trillium
    Fuzzy Baby Ducks by NEBCO

Both are right there with Abner, Double Sunshine, and HT. I think I prefer the two above to Pliny.

I think Julius is slightly behind all the above beers that I have mentioned. Also Coriolis is a really great beer by NEBCO too.
