Went out this morning to get some beers for the day.

Had my eye on the 72 Imperial the past coupla trips to the store, but it's not my usual style, so I'd passed it up.

Today, it's my starter (NBS post).

Well, actually it came after lunch, making it more of a dessert beer.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Lunch was the deconstructed version of a sandwich I've been eating lately (Cajun turkey, prosciutto, gruyere).

    More fun to come.

    Plus, Game of Thrones!

Coupla oldies from Therion (*crickets*)

I bought a handful of these to celebrate St. George's Day last week. I don't know anything about St. George's Day except that it seemed like a good excuse to buy some St. Georgenbräu.

Good morning, fellow BAs! So much going on today: the sun finally came out, and it's lovely outside; Spring is bleeding all over the yard; and I'm getting a ton of housework and projects done (not to mention I've got to pack up a box later tonight!). I'm trying out a new beer today (details on NBS).

I picked up this bottle of Stone Spröcket to support my local bottle shop the other day. In the midst of home projects, and with Opeth on 5.1 surround sound, I figured it was time to give it a shot. I had medium hopes: it looked like a good beer, but they also called it a Kölsch which, based on the beer itself, is offensive in at least 4 different ways.

OK, Stone: challenge accepted. If you've going to pretend this is a Kölsch, I'm going to bring out the proper(ish) glassware:

First off, it's a beautiful beer. Absolutely beautiful. It's got a strong rye and weak cherry nose, a rye black ale flavor (similar to FW Wookie Jack), and a soft mouthfeel that really impressed me. You know what? It's a very good beer. Earthy hops; tons of rye character; a hint of cherry; some dark barley.

.....but it's not a Kölsch, damnit.

Hmm, according to one of my bier steins, Köln is nowhere near Escondido, CA. Huh - whoda thunkit?

    Cheers, BAs!
