So like a previous forum post stated, Im trying to get a hold of calcio360jrd. Long story short, we traded for two of his Hunahpu, he attempted to ship, a few of the bottles broke with shipping, and never has sent anything or been in contact with me since.

I BM him once a week for an update and have noticed he hasn't been on beeradvocate since the beginning of the month. I then went to Facebook and found him on there and he seems to be pretty active on there with status updates, though no response to my messages.

No one seems to have his phone number so Im unable to resort to that (though that worked great last time a trade was going bad).

How far is too far when it comes to getting in contact with a bad trader? Messaging family and friends on facebook? Finding another BeerAdvocate member from Palm Beach Gardens, FL and seeing if theres a connection to talk with him. Contact his work which is has placed on facebook and find out if hes working and talk to him.

I don't want to overstep my boundaries, but potentially screwing a guy on a lot of beer deserves some justice.

    Jon

Personally I think you've taken it far enough by contacting him on FB. If he's ignoring you there, he clearly has no intention on speaking to you. It's probably just time to put him on the bad trader list and move on.

Also, you should edit out his name ASAP or this thread will get deleted.

This is why I never trust anyone with two first names.

If people are going to act like assholes, then you should treat them like one. It's only too far when you say to yourself "fuck it, this is not worth a couple beers". Show up at a funeral if you have to.

I agree, by contacting him on FB you've taken it to the next level. Contacting his work or family members is going way too far in my opinion. I know it really sucks being taken advantage of and then ignored, but that's how it goes sometimes unfortunately.

Put him on the bad trader list and move on. It's only beer. Karma will get it's revenge on him.

If he owed you a few grand going to his work and family after he ignored you might be ok, but for some beer? Bad trader list and write it off...

Contacting him on FB may be a bit too far. Contacting anyone else he knows on FB or his place of employment is way too far. Did you send him a Blabaer or something?

Seeing if he is active on FB to confirm your suspicion that he is a deadbeat is one thing, but going beyond that may be a bit much.

Did you contact his references before shipping? He doesn't have any listed.

I don't see a problem with shooting him a message on Facebook. You know his name, and it's an open directory anyone can access, so why would that be taking it too far? Anything more than that, though, you're crossing a line. Like the others have said, submit him immediately to the bad traders list and move on. It sucks, but unfortunately it seems like it happens too often here nowadays...

Seems that this is more and more true. Almost like there are things you should try to learn before trading.

For some reason I have him listed on my personal questionable trader list... there must have been something brought up about him in a thread on the site before it switched over to the new format.

Whether that thread has been deleted or not, who knows.

Always ask for references. If the person gets offended for asking, then don't trade with them.

It's worked for me thus far, haven't had a bad trade yet in almost 30 trades.

Trying to find him on facebook or calling his phone is far enough. Let Karma catch up with him...eventually it gets everyone.

Thanks for all the tips. Beer is just beer, but when its $15-30 a bottle, its hard to just let go of over $100. Facebook is all I went for. Hopefully he mans' up down the road. Ironically his last facebook status update was "U either have class or u don't, u can't fake it."

I will be asking for references from now on, particularly recent trades. Thanks again

Since when was contacting somebody on Facebook a big deal? Sending messages on other websites is too far? Gasp! This is ridiculous.

The guy owes you beer. Call his house. Track him down at work and send him e-mails there. Tell his Mom. Send her a fruit basket. At the very least you deserve an honest response.

After trying to call the phone and sending a message on FB, just follow everyone's advice and hope that karma catches up to him. And if you're ever in his neck of the woods...give karma a push in the right direction and throw a brick through his window.
