What beer are you drinking now? #682

A nice pretty standard IPA. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine with a moderate amount of caramel/honey/biscuit malt sweetness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish. Smooth, moderately creamy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel and finish. Good malt/bitterness balance. Overall, a bit on the malty side for an IPA but still fits the style well. No overdone malt sweetness. Nicely enjoyable.


This was a damn good Dubbel. Taste of raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, chocolate, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish. Really great balance of yeast ester and dark/bready malt flavors. Very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is lightly creamy. Definitely a fan of this, delicious.


Old barleywine I found for 5 bucks. This turned out quite nice. Raisin, plum, fig, cherry, caramel, brown sugar, toast, molasses, brown bread, light chocolate, and some earthy herbal hop notes. A fair amount of earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Smooth and moderately creamy/slick in the mouthfeel and finish. No cloying flavors at all; some really good balance of the malt, fruitiness, and earthy hop flavors. A nice amount of complexity. Overall this was quite impressive. Very smooth sipper. Really enjoyable over the last hour or so.

recently visited my stash of bourbon county barleywine and brought some back to NYC. created my secret concoction (add a teaspoon of vanilla extract made from soaking vanilla beans in brown rum for several months). satisfied as usual.

other than that, watching tennis and doing some bullshit in python.

not meaning to be an ass but this seems a bit problematic. the majority of bourbons are 'rye' formula - granted the percentage of rye grain is less than that of a "straight rye" but it's not like most are rye free. the Weller uses wheat grain & likely would be the least conflicting. Four Roses has 10 different recipes - all of em' far as i know are rye formula.

Super fresh and awesome


My normal go-to Pumpkin ale from now on basically. So flavorful and balanced for the session ABV @ 5%. Between this and gateway I have been buying a lot of griffin claw beer. 8 bucks a 4 pack of 16 oz, I'm going to keep buying this as long as I see it on the shelves. It is seriously excellent.


Last Publican until whenever they make more (January again?). Incredible imperial English porter.


So glad this is in 4 packs now. One of my all time favorite Ommegang brews. Incredible.
