    Greetings All:

Checking here late on a NBS with Sixty-One from Dogfish Head.
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/64/91677/?ba=RJLarse

I like red wines, except for Cabernet, but this grape flavored beer is rather questionable. I probably would not have this again.

Picture perfect day here in the Columbia Basin. Clear blue skies with temps in the high 70's.

I have been doing some home brewing, charcoal roasting and watching football on my back deck, football thanks to Dish Anywhere. God I love technology... sometimes.

Too bad about the Seahawks, but you can't win them all. They just need to win more than San Francisco. Screw San Diego. No wife beaters on this team either (that we know of). The color man on the radio broadcasts...? Well he's a little sketchy on the domestic violence and DUI front. But that's for another forum. Hell he's in the NFL Hall Of Fame with OJ, so WTF?

    Until next week

    Happy Trails!

Happy NBS! I already posted this picture in WBAYDN, but I thought it was worth sharing again.

This new Stone collaboration is wonderful! It pours nicely with a thick head and good aroma of chocolate and coffee. I had to take some sips while it was cold and the peppers were hardly noticeable. As it warmed, it just got better and better. The mouthfeel is thinner than I expected, but it's still solid. As I kept drinking this, I thought of it as a Westbrook Mexican Coffee Cake 'Light'. It's very smooth and easy to drink in one sitting. I was glad to have picked this up in Charlotte last evening and can't wait to get this here in Charleston. Cheers!

I really enjoy Warlock, but I got my hands on some Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash Stout a few weeks ago and it was so much better. It blew Warlock out of the water and is definitely one of the best pumpkin beers out there.

Beautiful brew for the Resinous Pine aficionados like myself. Big Bold Pine Hop Bitter that hits right off the bat and lingers for days! Great oak character which provides an excellent smoothness and keeps things in check in conjunction with the sweet malt.

    Resinous Hopheads Rejoice!

    Cheers!

    New Hoppy Red Sunday

No date, but bottles hit stores 9/5. Picked it off a room temp shelf on the 9th.

The sniff- Bright and citrus hops. If there's no amarillo, they've tricked me pretty well.

Much more rich roasty malts, some caramel malts coming through with bright yet resinous hop flavors. Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial was my guess; but their website lists Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra, and Galaxy. Wasn't too far off :stuck_out_tongue:

Delicious, I am a fan of the rich but hoppy red. Lagunitas Imperial Red, especially its malt profile, is pretty similar IMO. My fingers are crossed that this one gets bottled regularly. Cheers!

I'm BACK! New Beer Mail American IPA Sunday!

I'm back with another new beer post. Why? Because it's a new beer!?

Courtesy of @woemad he made it rain on my porch! I thought he was going to send me like two of these, naw, he sends me like eight! Well, back to the beer! This brew pours gorgeous! Honey tone with almost a burnt orange tinge. Nice white head. Let's smell this brew! First hits of tropical fruits and floral notes, then a hit of nice honey wheat malts. Very dense on the aroma. Time for the taste test! Very resinous with the flavors going toward juicy over-ripped pineapple and hints of passion fruit. Some red papaya with grapefruit pith and leaves a nice clean bitter finish. Malts are honey sweetness with some wheat cracker powder. Very nice! The feel is medium bodied with par carbonation.

Overall: This brew is very good! Enjoyable to boot and finishes so clean it aches for another sip! Could I kill a four or six pack of this? Yes I could! Am I glad I tried this brew? Yes, yes I am! Would I want more when it comes out again? You betcha! This brew is recommended!

That's from my official review, but it's like a melange of Sixpoint's Resin, Jackie O's Mystic Mama and The Brew Kettle's White Rajah rolled into one beer!

    Musical Narration..

(One of the saddest stories in Old German Folk Lore. It might be true, it might be a tail.)

    Cheers NBSers!

Eh my jury is still out on this one. I think I need more beer to decide. At a midpoint on the warm up with the Crown Valley it felt a bit clove heavy and I got a bad bandaid taste. As it warmed more this subsided but the warlock had no off flavors at all. On the other hand there was sort of a burnt molasses thing going on with the Warlock. I'd flip a coin but the Crown Valley comes in a more manageable size bottle (for me). A trivial concern to some but bombers are just so not my favorite format.

I've already picked up a second sixer, and am appreciating it more and more each time. The subtle woodiness definitely lends it a unique complexity, and that satiny mouthfeel is killer, too.

Definitely an Americanized version, but a very good one. Some toasty Munich malt comes through on the nose, as well as a gentle hint of freshness from the hops. The palate is full of toasty malt and caramel, with an even bigger hit of spiciness from the hops. It finishes dry with quenching bitterness and lingering roastiness. When all is said and done, it is more of a cross between an amber lager and brown ale, but is as easy to drink as it is unpretentious. B+

    And the crowd goes wild...

Haven't been following closely, so apologies if this has been asked already: Have you tried the Vienna Lager? If not, you're in for a real treat IMO. Cheers!

Heck, yeah! I got the pack on Friday and couldn't wait for the Vienna- I had two that night. Full flavored yet elegant, and on a whole other level. I'd love to see them find a way to make more of it on a semi-regular basis.

I bet it's in your area- you just may have to bug your local beer guy. That's how I got this Fall Pack; the distributor didn't put too much effort into letting the store even know it existed, but we checked his monthly book and it was there in small print.

    New Double IPA

It's a ridiculously awesome Sunday in West MI. Blue skies and temps into the 60's. Perfect weather for a long run (as slow and ugly as it may have been), front yard football with the whole family, and some relaxation.

Today's new brew lived up to the day's high expectations. So glad my wife was able to snag a couple of bottles with a second shipment to my local bottle shop (The Copper Vine). With a couple of weeks in the bottle, it seems to be straddling the line between DIPA and barleywine (at least I'm chalking it up to age). Tons of leafy hops that are met by a significant, and sweet, malt bill.
