Agreed. The comment about unrealistic expectations is on the mark. On its own merit, it's a solid beer and the "ABLE" applies perfectly, more or less equivalent to my "OK". Mostly the folks that attend a cookout at my house are in-betweeners. They aren't overly serious about beer, but they do like trying different things. It's a bit of fun - counting up the empties tells me what people liked and what they didn't. If people ask, or are looking for something specific, I'll point them (hopefully) in the right direction but I generally put out a variety and people pick what they want. On that particular day, the coffee milk stout took the prize - most people had at least two by my math (or one person drank a boatload by themself). By my informal market research it is something that I should have on hand for a gathering.

Got a box from my son in Texas filled with great beer! He told me to drink this one first, as it was brewed a week before he shipped it, making it 2 weeks old. Deeelicious!

    First some nice traditional hefe:

Glassware costs $$ that I could be using to buy beer. Send me one and I'll happily pour my FBS into it. :stuck_out_tongue:

[IMG] Such a good beer, hoping I'm able to find some of the barrel aged variety when it comes out.

Just reviewed SA Octoberfest (3.36) which had a significant metallic off flavor, and was quite sub par from years past. Followed it with Great Lakes always outstanding Nosferatu. It took about a quarter of the Nosferatu bottle to finally get rid of the metallic aftertaste from the SA, so it wasn't my taste buds. Anyone else finding the metallic flaw?

A little bit of "Prost!!" from the east coast, thanks to @302BeerGuy [IMG]

Both are very good, but I like that Dominion's Octoberfest isn't quite as sweet. Gonna give it the edge.

    Cheers and beers!!

Anise flavor. It's not as prominent as Bell's Kalamazoo Stout but there is no mistaking that it's in there.

Good afternoon, BAs! I enjoyed a Shed Mountain Ale with lunch, which prepped me for a post-work nap. Now, moving on to another new beer courtesy of @SomethingClever: Fat Head's Trail Head APA.

Very tasty; hits the spot. Ready for something bigger tonight. Cheers!

Hmmm ... I'll have to see if it hits the "make your own six pack" section. I might try one bottle, can't say I'd buy a whole four pack of it. Haven't had Kalamazoo Stout either, so good to know. Thanks for the help!
