You weren't supposed to take "break" literally...

As an FYI the flying pig pumpkin is a collab from a local gypsy brewer and rivertown, it is an imperial pumpkin ale aged in Pappy may be fun to try that side by side with the Hoppin Frog. I have your swag, local treats and a few more brews in a 2nd box as you could probably tell they would not have fit in that box. It is going out today you should see it Saturday so drink up!

OK -- so I got my delivery notification yesterday, got home, and was surprised not to see anything at my front door. So then I park the car, enter my house, and find that my wife had carried in two boxes that combined for just under half her weight...

I happen to be working from home today, so just left them there until this morning, when I moved them to the kitchen to open up the goodies...

Should have been a Founders KBS in the box as well right?

I decided to start with the "little" box... there were two separate styro 6-bottle shippers inside, containing
    [IMG]
Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash -- I haven't heard of this, and am not normally a big pumpkin fan -- but at 10.6% and a 92% rating, I'm willing to try it!
New Glarus Scream IIPA (Thumbprint) -- a want, and my first New Glarus!
Wicked Weed Genesis Blonde Sour-- "Blonde Sour Aged on Tropical Fruits in White Wine Barrels" -- yum!
Wicked Weed Serenity-- I've never had Wicked Weed, so these two sound good
NoDa Hop, Drop, 'n Roll (x2) -- another want!

    along with

    Surly Fest!
    Overrated (x2) - another want
    Furious (x2) - another want
Bender - this is the only one in this picture that wasn't a want, and that's probably because I just missed it
Coffee Bender - yes, another want

I had Abrasive once and loved it, I'm looking forward to trying all of these

so then I moved on to the second box...this one had a 12-bottle styro shipper inside, containing:

Steel Toe Size 7 IPA - this, along with everything else in this picture, was a want (I have a lot of them)
New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red -- my first New Glarus Fruit Beer!
New Glarus Raspberry Tart-- my second New Glarus Fruit Beer!
New Glarus Serendipity-- my thir... you get the idea
Surly Darkness-- this was a megawant, and possibly the single beer I am most looking forward to

I'm also hoping that my wife will try (and like) some of the fruit beers, since she puts up with me filling the house with beer that she rarely drinks

and the rest of the haul ...

Wicked Weed Dark Arts Wild Imperial Stout- another megawant, up there with Darkness
Highland Brewing Company 20th Anniversary American Saison - sounds yummy
Toppling Goliath Golden Nugget IPA- a want, and my first Toppling Goliath beer!
Foothills Sexual Chocolate- yet another want, and possibly the most politically incorrect label I've ever seen on a beer
Olde Hickory The Event Horizon Imperial Stout - I've never heard of them, but I'm sure it will be amazing
Olde Hickory Irish WalkerBarleywine - ditto

Nice Haul! That Dark Arts though...That one has peaked my interest since its release would be interested on your thoughts on it or @treznor maybe you have some thoughts already?

    And finally, the group shot..

including a Wicked Weed Dark Arts snifter front and center -- it's hard to see because it has white writing, I'm looking forward to using it and hoping it looks really cool with a dark beer in it.

Ridiculous thanks and props to @treznor for 430+ ounces of deliciousness from a couple of different local areas, it all looks amazing. 13 out of 20 beers (and 16 out of 23 bottles/cans) were wants.

@treznor seems to have taken a VERY liberal interpretation of "Local" and I LOVE it. Your wife WILL love the New Glarus fruit beers, they are ridiculous.

By the way -- one of the great things about this haul is that with the exception of Dark Arts, the highest ABV is under 11% and most of the IPA's are not Imperials -- that gives me a lot more options since anything over an 8% bomber is a lot for me on a weeknight.

I had no idea Event Horizon was rated that high... I think I've got 2 bottles sitting in my crawl space somewhere. May have to dig one out and enjoy it tonight since it's National Stout Day

The one "perk" I got from running this thing was getting to choose my sender. I did a ridiculous amount of work trying to avoid not only duplicate senders, but having someone even receive beer from the same state they did in the past (so for example, besides not pairing you up with someone from NY, NJ, PA, Md, or Ohio, I didn't want to give you a sender from Mass, Minn, or Texas since I knew you had received from there before). Once I did that some pairings just made sense to me, and then about halfway through I chose from who was left. I didn't want to assign myself someone from the west coast, since I know everybody liked their beers and I received from California in round 1; I chose @treznor because I know he travels regularly on business and I would get stuff from both NC and Minnesota.

FWIW, I also tried to keep people really far apart (I wanted everyone at least 500 miles from their target, I ended up giving up on that and ended up with one 489 mile trip). Otherwise I might have chosen a sender from Texas (there were plenty of them) -- but that would have made it harder to spread out some other pairings.
