The love for the kids is reaffirmed every time I'm stuck in meetings. Then I get back to the classroom and I'm reminded why the hell I got into it.

As a music teacher, you must play a bunch of different instruments. Do you have an instrument of choice outside of school?

Agreed. Even though I play it during school a lot as well, my instrument of choice is piano. And also any other type of keyboard instrument (synthesizer, melodica, etc.).

I've wanted a melodica for a while now, not sure what to get since I get the sense that quality matters. Any recommendations? I'm a bass player but I love piano, which I taught myself to play, slowly, over the last 20 years.

I'm not sure what brand I have, I'd have to check (I think I left it at school). The one I have is a German brand I believe. As far as keyboards go, Korg, Roland and Yamaha make solid ones.

I've never played one, but I've been drooling over the Nord for a while now.

    And I love beer.

I had a can of 2012 Ten Fidy a little while ago. It had a very leathery oxidized taste. It was bought from a cold cooler and refrigerated until I drank it. I was slightly disappointed that it didn't hold up better. I really enjoy it fresh.
Don't let my one aged can discourage you from buying them as they are ~$14 a 4 pack here.

One of these things is not like the other..... and I don't mean the bourbon because it's whisky....or the growler because it's a different type of container.... King Henry is just on such a different level with the rest of that group; I'm wondering, was someone feeling particularly generous, or do you guys rotate turns for a whale along with non-whales for the rest of the share? I don't mean to put down the rest of that picture as I'd be plenty happy if I were drinking any of those, but King Henry is just such a different level item.

@Lehighace06 Funny story about King Henry. First time I was going to meet @Lkoro was at our annual bottle share at KBS release. My man says he is bringing a KH and I would get first pour. I was blown away. We had some conversation about the share prior and I can tell you, it truly is on another level. Much like you I looked at that picture and was like....Umm, Hmmm, errr. Pretty much didn't have words for that bottle being in the pic.

I have to say @Will_Edgar #1, your avatar is pretty sweet. #2 Either you or someone you know is really generous.(if it wasn't your bottle, someone thinks you are just as generous and worthy of sharing that gem, that's something to be proud of.) It's good to see that folks who have these super rare, super tasty bottles actually share them. It sucks when you see pictures of cellars or cellar links and folks don't want to drink theirs or share theirs. It's the old, I have the bottle and you don't routine. Glad to see someone said Fuck it, let's drink this son of a biaatch!!!

Any lurkers out there reading this, if you are reading this, @Will_Edgar posting this goes to show the kind of folks are in this thread, GENEROUS. Take note.

Again, this damn soapbox, who keeps putting it down in front of me?

    OK, back to beer banter.

Well, we didn't actually plan to open a King Henry, but yeah, my friend who was hosting had three left and a few of us hadn't tried it before so he decided to open one. When King Henry first came out he got two cases of it so he didn't feel too bad in opening a bottle.

I have mulled over doing a "whale rotation" like you stated above. The problem with that is some of us have more whales than others. Also, there are some things that I'd feel pressured to bring if we did that (i.e. my bottle of Chez Monus, etc.). However, from a different point of view, "DRINK GOOD BEER NOW," is a solid philosophy. Lol

    *************************Incoming Emergency Broadcast Message**********************************

There is currently a trade embargo at my house until we move to Tucson. Other than the twelve shippers from The Bruery already en route, I shall not receive new cargo. Customs has declared there will be HEFTY taxes and license fees if someone tries to break this embargo.

i.e please don't send me any new beer until I get settled in Arizona in January

Thank you for listening to this announcement from the Emergency Broadcast System

12 shippers?!? As in 144 bottles? Good lord... If this is the case, no wonder "customs" is taking a closer look

12 shippers as in 3 - 12 shippers filled with beer.

That still is a ton but you worried me for a minute, I had a friend come back with 84 bottles on a trip home from the bruery and his wife about killed him...

That is pretty awesome, and as Timmy said, quite generous. I get what you mean about a whale rotation, but you can always go by what is a whale to that person, even if one night that means King Henry and another night it means something less "whale-y" but was still considered to be a 'best of the cellar' by the person who brought it.

Speaking of him having gotten 2 cases of it, I happened upon an old thread discussing it, and at the time people were going nuts about the $25/bottle pricetag, one comment that stood out to me was "it's a pretty good barleywine but not nearly $25 worth" ...oh if only they knew

And yes, King Henry definitely is on another level, I got a 2oz taste of it during Migration Week when Goose Island stopped at a couple area bars. I was lucky enough to try Vanilla (the original) and Cherry Rye that night as well, and even got a second pour of each! With my 2nd vanilla pour I cuvee'd with BCBCS (best taste of the night, followed closely by vanilla alone) and with my 2nd Cherry Rye pour I cuvee'd with some more Vanilla. That was a hell of a night.

This is why I'm very happy I won't be moving, let alone across multiple states, any time soon. The shitstorm it would cause if a) my wife saw what my collection looks like when it's not spread all over thet house and b) I had to figure out the logistical issues of moving it all
