Secondly, I've talked to him in the past and he seemed like a good dude; he saw me giving away some beer way back when (before I even discovered BIFs and I had to go find ways of giving it away on my own) and offered to send me something in appreciation of my generosity (it was something I had just received in trade, so I turned him down).

Long story short, like you I thought he seemed like a good dude, but I don't have enough experience with him to override his actions.

Right, because you can't officially ban someone for bad trading, with the he said/she said nature of it all and the site's disclaimer of 'trade at your own risk'... but for mouthing off to a mod, that's easy.
